HOW DO I TRANSFER FILES TO MY IPHONE3...PLEASE HELP ME.

I have been trying to transfer files to my iph3 for over a week, i downloaded a program onto my laptop and now i need to transfer the files to my iph. I've tried everything and lots of different file apps etc; Everytime i transfer the files onto the phone...i go to the folder that contains the application, suppose to open up the app and let it load up. But i keep getting the error msg ..YOUR DEVICE DOES NOT HAVE AN APPLICATION SUPPORTING THIS TYPE OF FILE. Sooo grateful if someone could please help me...it's really doing my head in cause i really want this particular program on my ph

    If you have a computer download the files and iexplorer and it works similar to ifile but instead it is on the computer and it can browse backups. Just make sure it is an app that is supported for the iphone
