help!!!! 3gs jb

I followed all the instruction on how to jb your iphone 1-20 and everything seemed to work and it rebooted with the Pineapple but Cydia was not on my home screen now anywhere when i searched using Spotlight. How do i know if the jb worked or not ? can i just go online and download cydia some where if the jb worked?
