evasi0n auto close before complete

Hello,
I'm trying to jailbreak my verizon iphone 4s. It seems to get right to the final step but the evasi0n screen closes before the phone reboots one final time and I do not get the evasi0n pop up or the cydia app on my phone. I've tried 3 different times with no solution. Anyone else have this happen, or can anyone tell me what I did wrong?

same thing is going on w/ my friend, whom I am trying to help jailbreak his phone.

he had a passcode on, and didn't turn it off until after the first or second try @ installing
