iPhone 3G cannot be restored - Error 1015

Let me start by saying right off that I am by no means knowledgable about iDevice hacking... Which is probably how I got the device to this point—I know enough to get into trouble! So, if someone could help me out, I would very much appreciate it!

I have an old iPhone 3G that has been jailbroken and unlocked in the past. I don't even know anymore what version iOS it was running last, and I don't have a sim card for it. I believe at some point I upgraded the baseband to the 6.15.00 version, and I think this is probably where I got in over my head. It's sat around in its bricked state for a couple of years now, and I would like to get it functional again if possible. In my attempts to restore it, iTunes gives me the "...could not be restored. An unkown error occurred (1015)." I know this is due to my tinkering around with it, so I'm wondering if there's any way back now? I figgered it would be nice to use as an access point for a cheap bluetooth speaker box I have in my garage.
