This is great, just installed and played a bit, quite impressive. Will do the live test drive tomorrow. Oh, and quess what, you will need to have approx 138GB storage to download whole GB map.. :)
-
Thanks for the quick feedback.
Good one regarding the size of the GB map, I guess downloading a map area is
definitely the way to go then :) -
Indeed! 1.6GB for London and surrounding area which is not bad. And I am guessing turn on the off line may and pre-download the map for your trip is better pratice!! Way to go xGPS!!
-
That is awesome. Now if only I didn't lose my iphone last weekend in a drunken black out... :/
Already putting away part of my measly paychecks (I am a college student) to buy the (hopefully) new one this spring! :]
-
Wow !!! Pretty impressive. Just installed very easily and should give it a full go tomorrow. Im in Toronto and everything is showing as its supposed to.
-
i cant find it in cydia :(( is there any other name of this app?
-
Just search for xgps and it should pop right up.
This is awesome news for the iPhone, but again it should be something apple should of sorted out along time ago.
Did the guy who made the videos also record the sat nav voice? they sound kinda similar ;-)
-
Pretty cool. I used it on the way to work today. Downloading maps prob wont work for me because I have like 1g of free space on my phone. so until the 32g iphone comes out i wont be doing that.
-
I tried this app this morning and i can't get it to plot a route it just gives me an error message! anyone else having the same issue??
-
Cool, but what happens when a call comes in, or if you want to use also as an iPod while driving?
-
Is he using an itouch? If so he has to be linked to a laptop in his car?!
-
If you preload the maps u are going to use before you leave you dont need network access. But you better have a lot of free space.
-
hey guys i am trying to download it, but it keeps on telling me host not available.. any comments??
-
I had the same problem this evening when I tried it. After searched their user forum, I've found the workaround;
1) Do not use "current location", manually enter the address or from address book.
2) Plot the route before enabling GPS.
My problem solved!
-
Thanks for sharing the solution to the problem.

Hey Scott,
The iPhone app will exit when you get the call just like other iPhone apps.
As you can see in the video, you will be able to play music on your iPod app
while using xGPS. -
Hey Sohail,
There could be a problem with your iPhone's data connection, are you able to
open webpages using iPhone's Safari. Why don't you exit Cydia and try to launch it again and try installing the
app again? -
Does 3G connection needed for the GPS ?? Does it work offline mode ??
-
Its on the Ispazio repo which doesnt seem to be working these days, add http://cydia.xwaves.net/ that is the official source
-
can xgps works on 3G iphone 2.2 firmware?
I am unable to install the app. due (size mismatch) -
Yes i've the same error "size mismatch" ... -.-
I've 2.2.1 firmware with jailbreak ^^ -
Thats nice....What else for the iphone.
-
So you need to buy a gps module to make it work? If so what can I expect to pay for that?
-
The GPS module is required only for the 1st gen iPhone and iPod Touch. If
you have an iPhone 3G, you don't need the GPS module as it comes with GPS
built-in. -
Then why does even google maps take ages to get my exact location? Wouldnt it need to be instant for turn by turn navigation?
-
Is there a way to delete this from my iPhone?
-
I guess it works, but it can't find ANYTHING. I've tried many addresses, even relitives address that have lived in the same house for 50 years. the regular maps app, white pages app, and google have no trouble finding what I'm looking for, but I'll be damned if xGPS has a clue.
-
oh, and yes I've tried getting bookmarks, and address from my Contacts (that I filled in by hand, and with the White Pages app).
-
So you need 138GB of HDD Space on the computer to download?
-
I have an iPhone 3g and 2g.
Will this work on both? And do you need a gps module for the iphone too?
And how much will that cost and where to get it?Which GPS should i use? In the map settings there are 5 different ones.
I have this picture of a sattelite in the corner and under it it always says N/A.
And when i try to get current location it says. - Unable to get position. The Gps is not currently giving any position information.
PLEASE HELP!
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
