Google Sync Beta: Sync your Google Calendar and Gmail Contacts to your iPhone Over the Air
Google seems to be on a roll. They had recently released their lightweight to-do list manager, Gmail Tasks for the iPhone, followed that with the announcement that they will be releasing their new feature in Google Maps called Latitude that allows users to share their location with their friends and...

I have been doing this for months with: https://www.nuevasync.com/
The nuevasync service works perfect and I have no complaints whats so ever, however am always interested in other solutions especially if they are direct from google. Assuming apple allows them to run it in the back ground to sync automatically this looks cool.

wow impressive google! thank you.... ps. please hire me!
-
Lol taking a closer look it just uses exchange, same as nuevasync. Well that is perfect, looks like the same service but skipping the middle man.
-
I am not very comfortable giving my email account details to third party so
I tend to avoid such workarounds such as Nuevasync. -
Can't wait until Verizon gets the iPhone...stuck with them for another year!
-
Awesome! I love this - I was trying to do it with a work around, but it was a such a complicated pain.
Involving google calender, a secondary sync program, sunbird, blah blah.
Hopefully this will be much easier.

I just want my iGoogle back!!!!!!
I haven't found anything that comes close to replacing it!
-
I agree, I miss iGoogle. Hopefully when everything in the world balances out, Google will come back to their senses and find the money to spend. (Assuming its for economic reasons that they discontinued it.)

I tried google sync today but the very 1st problem i found it that when add new contact on ur google contact, it displays phone number on ur iphone contact after clicking that number u will see name on it. I might have done something wrong but i was playing with it and trying to see it works or not. I just put a name under name and phone number under phone number. But it displayed number which i have added on contact. Anybody found same prob???

I only get one of my 6 calendars (one for each of my subjects at school). how come?
-
Just tried it and think its great, i've finally got a use for the calender on my iPhone :-)
But does anyone know a way to get your contacts birthdays to show up on google calender?
-
I actually use a services that already does this called Nuevasync and currently they offer more features. However in the future I am sure this is the way to go.
-
i'd like to have this feature, but it looks like i can't since i already have an exchange account for my company email to push to my phone. it's a shame that i can't get my company email and my google calanders too.

Hey Mathias,
Go to http://m.google.com/sync using your iPhone's Safari browser (takes you
to http://www.google.com/mobile/default/sync.html if you try that URL from a
computer). You should see iPhone under Manage devices, click on iPhone, here
you should see list of all your Google Calendars. Currently Google Sync Beta
only supports 5 Calendars, so select the 5 Calendars and you should see them
on your iPhone when you launch the Calendar app the next time. -
Hey Pedro,
That's right, unfortunately you can configure only one Exchange ActiveSync
account. Mahalo Answers provides the following solution to solve the
problem:You could connect the 2 exchange servers and either import your calendar /
contacts or the email onto one server.Alternatively, you may want to connect to both servers with Gmail and setup
the sync to download the mail, calendar and contacts. This will result in a
slight delay (under 5 minutes) of updating, but it would work for free and
outside of further Exchange modification. Here is the link for your reference:

I'm currently using Nuevasync to sync my iPhone calendar with my Outlook calendar. It's quite a roundabout solution since I have to sync three calendars, but it works fine. Still, I'd rather eliminate one of the steps.
My issue is that I don't need my Gmail contacts on my phone, and I'm scared to lose my contacts by syncing with Google. I know I can back them up on iTunes, but I don't want to have to restore my contacts if they do get erased.
Has anyone tried just using the calendar sync function of Gmail? There is a switch to turn off the contact sync, but I want to be sure it works before trying it.
