I had what's app on my iPad mini but since I upgraded to ios 7.1 that has now become history. Which has led me to ask the question, Is there no app that is available or Can be written so as.to house what's app within it without the need to jailbreak to run what's app on the iPod iPad range.

You would need to be Jailbroken for Whatsapp to work on the iPad; unless Facebook plan on making it available for tablets too; but I can't see that happening any time soon.
