Today I went out to buy a new iphone 4s. Before performing the jailbreak I checked the OS, which was 7.0.4
I did the evasion jailbreak as explained on
http://www.iphonehacks.com/2013/12/jailbreak-iphone-ios-7-ios-7-0-4-evasi0n7.html
After the jailbreak completed successfully on this new iphone (said evasion app on mac) all it did was continuously reboot to white apple logo.
I booted in DFU mode.
I asked itunes to restore a 7.0.4 version I downloaded from the net so I could do the jailbreak again.
iTunes says my iPhone is not eligible for this requested build.
How do I regain access to my 7.0.4 iphone? Thanks!

Sorry to hear about the issue. You can check this article to solve the issue:

If I follow this guide, the same happens: iTunes says my iPhone is not eligible for this requested build.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
The page http://www.iphonehacks.com/2013/12/jailbreak-iphone-ios-7-ios-7-0-4-evasi0n7.html explains how to jailbreak an ios 7.0.X device. If the jailbreak fails on a new device, which because it is new can not have shsh blobs of its 7.0.X os, the device is lost forever to ios 7.0.X and can only be updated to 7.1.1, loosing all jailbreak ability.
If I read carefully, the solutions on page http://www.iphonehacks.com/2014/01/fix-stuck-apple-logo-evasi0n7.html do not work any more because apple no longer signs 7.0.X, and for these solutions to work itunes needs signing. This I verified as itunes refuses this to work, at least for me.
If what I found out is correct, then your guide pages should clearly state not to jailbreak 7.0.X any more until a new jailbreak becomes available. Had this been written in the first article, I would not have just lost a brand new iphone. Please update your article so no one else should suffer loosing a brand new device. After all, it is the first result in google when searching for jailbreaking.
I'm waiting to update to 7.1.1 for a few more hours, just in case there is a real workable non itunes solution to the recurrent apple logo reboot problem. -
No, evasi0n7 can still be used to jailbreak iOS 7 - iOS 7.0.6, so the guide is still very much relevant if you're on iOS 7 - iOS 7.0.6 and want to jailbreak your device.
However, the process does fail at times and results in users getting stuck at the Apple logo. But that is for a very small percentage of users. -
I appreciate that, but please update the guide to clearly inform people if the jailbreak fails (which based on what I've been reading on forums and sites is more then just a very small percentage of users) then they're screwed with an unjailbreakeable device for ever after ... I wouldn't have gone bought a new iphone earlier today if that info had been in the instructions. Thanks!
