The same thing happen to me, but when I looked at the other icon, tap tap said cydia under it. When I added another theme it said cydia. Maybe its the same for you.

That happen to me also, make sure you are using 3gs firmware. Also follow the direction. I put my iphone in DFU mode and not recovery. Follow the direction completely.

can anyone tell me should i rejailbreak my 3gs after restoring as i used purplera1n for the 1st time to jailbreak it as it seems some of wifi issue is still there after using updated ulttrasnow from cydia, i also did network resetting like twice. it works fine till i restart my iphone. Once i restart my iphone i have to reset my network to get wifi working again like before. I dont know y as it says i have to reset only once my network setting .

Guys, looks like you had a long day and I went to sleep as I used the purplera1n to jailbreak and unlock. But I can now confirm the problem related to the 3GS firmware rather than 3G firmware! Thanks for all your effort and good hint (thanks specially to Jaylou180). Have a good night!

Zathrak - Look at Armanius' comments.I am about to downgrade FW's to 3.0 and than I will be jailbreaking. Ill let you guys know what happens.

Guys go on youtube search redsn0w 3gs Jailbreak, you will find a step by step on how to do it. It wasn't hard for me using Redsn0w and I haven't had any problems yet.

I unable to select custom firmware in itunes when I press shift-click-restore as no windows opens to allow me to do that. I have 3gs with itunes 8.2
Can any one help? -
no it doesnt work, i tried, fring and skype crashes. CrashX on twitter said he is working for a solution next week?
I dont know if there is anyother way to have voice over 3g? -
try to reboot your phone holding power and home buttons at the same time for 15sec... it worked for me

weird thing happened when i jailbroke my iphone... i have "urbanspoon" app in my iphone and when i jailbroke it and got Cydia in there i donno why Cydia changed its icon to urbanspoons icon lol but i restarted it and it was fine :D so check and see if you have same app twice lol

If you jailbroke with Purplera1n RC2 then there is no need to jailbreak again. I jailbroke with the RC2 version and all features are working fine for me. If you used RC1 then you can upgrade with Redsn0w as it contains some kernel patches and you don't need to restore first.Stay away from Voioover3g for now and wait for it to get ported if you use this app. Apparently that causes a fair bit of issues like loosing App Store. Hope this helps.

Worked great for me. **** purplerain. Just be patient and do everything correctly and in time. Worked first time for me and cydia showed up. Smoothest jailbreak ever.

my iphone wont let me restore it i keep getting 3004 error. help! i put it in dfu mode and restore mode still same.

Try this...
Put your iPhone into DFU mode.
Run your restore (it will obviously fail) than it should out you in recovery mode (with the USB cable)
open up purplera1n
jailbreak using purplera1nI did this to fix my restoring problem because I updated to fw 3.1 but I downgraded to 3.0

I'm guessing that your using Safari to download the IPSW.
You'll either have to turn off Safari's auto unzipped or use firefox.
The folder your seeing shouldn't be a folder. It should just be the .ipsw but for some reason Safari messes it up.

are you sure you didnt remove check mark next to the Cydia when you were using redsn0w? what kind of iphone do you have? is it 3G or 3GS?

Try using purplera1in instead of redsn0w. I had problems with redsn0w because it wouldn't activate my phone so I had no service.
So redo what you did but substatute purplera1n for redsn0w.

To fix missing or no Cydia icon:
1. download redswn0w from official **** on TPB
2. make sure to use USB hub if your using a macHope this helps, it got me pretty frustrated
