Works great on a 3.1 Jailbroken 3G
-
I am disappointed that you MUST be on 3.1 for this to work, with all the issues reported and the lack of jailbreak ability...
-
I am also bummed about the 3.1 requirement. MMS should work on 3.01 and I have not updated since I am jailbroken.
I was hoping to send out some picture messages today but I guess I will have to wait.
-
its not working for me, tried like 10 times keep giving me message try again. Tried from both end since me n my wife both have 3gs and i m running 3.0.1 fw and my wife has 3.1fw. But i did update with the latest i.e 5.5 carrier file which can be seen under about in setting.I don't know whats the deal about at&T sucker.

go to sinfuliphone or add the repository to cydia.
there is a hack there that can be downloaded and you will have mms.

works great with 3.1 unlock+jailbreak iphone 3g

I just updated my iphone 3g. When I plugged my iphone into my PC with iTunes open, the update window didn't automatically pop up. I had to manually click check for updates. After updating my iphone, there was no camera button next to the text screen. I had to do a hard reset before I was able to see the camera button. The 1st pic message I sent failed. I had to resend it and it went thru the 2nd time. I guess AT&T's MMS servers might be getting over loaded.

jumbo007: your running 3.0.1 and were able to update the carrier file?
-
You don't have to be on 3.1

I used the mms hack for 3.0 to update the carrier. I am on 3.0.1. Been working for a week for me
-
Yup works good..When i updated at first, it wasnt working, but i powered phone off and turned back on and it was there, in case some of you dont get it when you download it, try that.. works great, yay.
-
If you're not on 3.1 yet and have swirly mms, it works fine now.
-
This article is written poorly. In the middle, it says that if you have a jailbroken or unlocked phone, you should update the carrier settings on iTunes.
If someone stops reading at that point, they are going to end up updating to 3.1 as stated towards the bottom of the article. D
epending on which model and what precautions they had taken, they may lose their jailbreak and WILL lose their unlock.
-
had to download the ipcc file manually because itunes wont let me check for updates unless i upgrade to 3.1 which im avoiding. Works great with 3.0.1
-

-
The post has been updated to warn readers who haven't upgraded to iPhone OS
3.1, don't accidentally say yes to downloading and installing iPhone OS 3.1.
Thanks for the feedback. -
Does this update disables the tethering hack?

not true, in my case however. im running 3.0.1 and i have mms up and running. just update the carrier only and enjoy!
-
Can i get the mms update without updating to 3.1? I'd like to be able to keep tethering.
-
It worked first try for me and i used the link InterwebSearchIsYourFriend gave. And my tethering works just as good as ever! I have a 32 gb 3Gs with 3.0.1fw
-
Wow, that was super easy! I wasn't sure if it had even worked until I restarted my phone and noticed the camera button. Thanx
-
Yes you can. Use the link InterwebSearchIsYourFriend gave. It's really easy, its the official ipcc and it worked for me with 3.0.1. Tethering still works also
-
The mms hack works too, so of you want to stay using os 3.0.1, so you can keep using the tethering hack, then do the mms hack, you might have to adjust you visual voicemail setting and such.

I was able to update but none of my MMS messages are being sent. I just the red exclamation sign with each attempt. Brutal!
-
I have a 3G, 3.1 fw, and after having to click "check for updates" after connecting to iTunes 9.1, I installed the update which said it installed successfully. But the camera icon didn't appear until I restarted my phone.

PS: I'm on a Macbook pro

3g iPhone 3.1 updated to 5.5. Jailbroken.
Still doesn't work even after reboot. Still get the red explanation point? -
I was able to get this to work around 1pm CST (after the update and reboot of phone), then around 3pm CST everything started going with the RED Exclamation points. I'm in the Houston area of TX and it seems like AT&T's network did indeed crumble under the pressure of iPhone MMSing. I hope they get this fixed soon because now it looks like everyone finally updated their iPhone and are attempting to use the 'new' feature and basically causing higher than normal traffic. Nice job AT&T, it's not like you didn't know this was coming... 2 years ago!
