First create Custom IPSW with snowbreeze on 0s4,For 3GS with old bootrom 6.4, MC135ll, 4.0 os, If you did the cydia save with shsh. Downgrade to 3.12- jailbreak with blackra1n, go through the activation with itunes 9.2. then hit shift And restore and look for custom 4.0 os snowbreeze IPSW. Forget about if you used spirit. Your phone will jailbreak with no 1600 Error.

Well i hope it isn't released too soon - cos Apple may be looking to release a firmware upgrade to fix some issue's that you may have heard about?

You really didn't get an iPhone 4g!!! Maybe an iPhone 4??? The only reason I have left to jailbreak is customised SMS tones, cos the factory ones suck. Sort this apple and I reckon you've pretty much cracked it for me!

i have a 3g running in 3.1.2, baseband 05.12.01, model MB046ll. can i update the firmware to iOS4, baseband 05.13.XX and jailbreak it and use ultrasn0w to unlock it.. :)

I'm just asking for a little clarification please: you've said that this iphone 4 jailbreak method won't unlock iphone 4 - but doesn't UltraSn0w 0.9.3 unlock all basebands included with iphone OS 3.0 all the way up to iOS 4.0 ??? Or does it only unlock previous iphones running iOS 4.0? Please clarify!
