I think this is great news that these guys have find a way in iPhone 4 iOS4 but since a lot of us (including me) are having issues with the signal problems and apple has comfirmed that they'll be releasing an update soon,... Is it not a good idea to wait until the update is out first and then release the Jailbreak??? Apology if causing any problem.

Why is everyone thanking the Dev team for this? Its not them, they just confirmed it working etc. Comex (creator of the Spirit jailbreak) found the exploit and created the hack.

iPhone 4's 05.13.04 Baseband is definitely Unlockable... the only problem is its running a different real-time OS (ThreadX) than that of <3GS (Nucleus OS). So, DevTeam and the others are trying to crack through this nut right now.

I feel we should wait for few more days as Apple is going to Update iOS 4.01, most probably Apple might block the port (Hole) with update.

did u buy that iphone brand new? or did u buy it from someone else who had at&t service? i'm assuming that u want to use it for another carrier other than at&t. if its the case where u bought it from another user, it may have already been activated and registered at some point. in that case, u can insert an at&t sim card (if u have access to one) into the iphone, and it will activate itself through itunes.

No for 3GS that were updated to os4 with 5.13, old bootrom, and now can't restore and get message error. And can't jailbreak. This is how I was able to do it.

so does this mean that we shouldnt update the firmware to 4.0.1 when it comes out? cause that wont be able to be jailbroken yet

So, is it that different iphone versions running the same OS have different baseband? I thought the baseband versions came with the OS versions ...

The iPhone 4 has 01.59.00 on it. The iOS 4 installs 05.13.04 onto the 3gs, but NOT the iPhone 4.
