iPhone Dev Team Release New Version Of Redsn0w To Fix MMS And APN Issues
iPhone Dev Team had released Redsn0w 0.9.5 that allowed iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G (non-MC version) users to jailbreak iOS 4.0. But after jailbreaking their iPhone using Redsn0w, some users reported that the MMS feature disappeared, while some users reported that they were facing issues with their 3G/Edge data...

I don't have any MMS or Edge issues.

I guess it's ok to say that iPhoneDev do not plan on finding a jailbreak for new bootrom iPhone 3Gs. Wish they would just come out and say they cannot get a workaround and save us all these headaches waiting for them to release something. Argh!

The new version of Redsn0w is Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5, -3 means Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-3. Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-3 seemed to fix the MMS issue but it does not have the fix for the iBooks issue.
Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5 includes fixes for MMS, APN and iBooks. -
i fixed that myself useing snowbreeze instead of redsnow about 2 weeks ago. worked fine

Here is a stupid question: how do u know which I phone u have? I have an I phone that I thought was a 3g and when I tried to jailbreak it it turns out I had the wrong os and had to download os for 3GS. If I'm not mistaken that is. Any help would be great.

check to see if u have the compass app or voice commands... Thats a 3gs only feature.... Thats one of the easiest way to tell. Also the battery percentage indicator is a 3gs only feature.

Unless your iphone has been previously jailbroken. I had battery percentage enabled, wiped my phone clean, and upgraded to 3.1.3 (this was a while back) and I still had the percentage enabled on my 3G.

after jailbreaking my 3G phone with redsnow
And unlucking with ultrasnow, the apps from cydia, such as mixtube don't work anymore.
Did this happene to anyone?do any of you know how to fix this problem? Please let me know how thank you -

Truth be told jailbreaking 4.0 is not worth it at the moment. For those who havent jailbroken yet I would suggest waiting a week or two until most of everything gets update to work with iOS4. Cycorder, mxtube and ifile don't work. Most of everything is very unstable even winterboard. With running a few hacks and tweaks my phone constantly kept crashing. For those who are still gonna jailbreak then I suggest 3g users to not install wallpaper or multitasking. The phone is very sluggish with those activated

i'm also experiencing some issues with the redsnow jailbreak. mms and apn was definitely an issue so it's good to know there is a fix..but i've noticed that iphone 3g on ios4 lags very noticeably after the jailbreak.. particularly when typing. swiping through the homescreen pages laggs also. i've tried this on a couple of iphone 3g. anyone else experiencing this?

So, if I already have a jailbroken 3G, do I just let iTunes upgrade me to iOS4, and then jaibrake after that? I'm assuming I'll need to reinstall my Jailbroken apps?

always restore to the new version, then jailbreak.
"Updating" from 3.1 to 4.0 will make it slow and buggy

messaging and verify that mms is
on or toggle it?

I have an iPhone 3G and made the mistake of jailbreaking with spirit. I wiped my iPhone cllean, upgraded to iTunes 9.2 and installed ios 4. Is there any way to currently jb my phone? I have tried sn0wbreeze and redsn0w but with no avail. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I jailbroke mine with spirit too, but I had to restore it completely and then upgrade to 9.2 and then upgraded to 4.0 then i jailbroke again with redsn0w and unlocked with ultrasn0w and it did the trick. Still can't get mms to work though.
