Make sure you sync your phone with itunes before updating to the 4.1 firmware because you will need the backup file to restore all your information after the update.

3gs users are already untethered.... only A4 chipped devices will be tethered. Iphone 4, iPad, and iPod Touch 4th Gen.

3GS has 2 bootroms one patched so like the 4gen devices and one like iPhone 3G so It needs limera1n too for untethered JB
