The US Patent and Trademark office has just approved an patent that Apple had submitted back in 2008. The patent is for something that is being describe as a “Text-based communication control for personal communication device”. If you didn't understand the jargon, let us inform you that this is basically...

I wonder if Lord Jobs will program it to delete text's that include the word's "Cydia" "Limera1n" "Dev Team" Etc etc..?
God that man takes the PISS
-
that would be funny as hell, and not really annoying. someone would make a cydia tweak to fix that in about 2 minutes.
-
Honestly? People under 18 shouldn't even have a smartphone especially one as expensive as the iPhone. This is ridiculous.
-
Definitely goes a bit too far. They claim its a parental measure but lets be realistic..., if your kid is texting all types of vulgar language than more than likely they talk the same way..., blocking it out has the opposite effect... Too far and also pointless... The educational environment...?! Are they serious about this. Waste of time and money, i believe
-
Ridiculous it goes way too far; children shouldn't have smart phones anyways. This "feature" shouldn't even be necessary imo.
-
Just 'Restrictions' in General setting. ^^
-
I just got my 1st iPhone after working for 20 years and was dismayed to find out my 8 year old son's class mate got one at the same time as me. Personally this is unfair and he should have to work for 20 years as well.
-
@!#$ u steve jobs!
-
i doesnt matter, kids will just send pictures of what they want to say avoiding the filter
-
So ... you are a communist?
-
I don't really mind as long as it's not forced but I do see a bit of a problem with kids having iPhones. I got my first phone in 8th grade and it wasn't anything special, just a RAZR back when it came out.
And the part about encouraging proper grammar and spelling, I'm all for that. I don't know about you but reading txt lyk dis is really annoying.
-
Are you people serious? Don't deserve an I-Phone? What are you going post next? "Get off my lawn!"? We are living in the year 2010 people. If kids are using vulgar language on a phone I'm sure they are using it elsewhere. Corporate censorship on personal property, whats next? This is America, land of the free, not a communist dictatorship.
-
I'll just use a different texting app mother firetruck!!!! i'll keep sexting all I want and you cant stop me ;) because i'm a beastttttttttt
-
sexting is not the right word use something else
-
Why is it ridiculous?

My 8 year old son has an iphone.
-
LMAO... There are just too many words to censore...
-
If it stps ppl spking in st00pid txt spk, then ROFL LOL GR8!!!
-
Children now adays are smarter they can by pass many restrictions nevertheless it's still a good idea.as far as children having smartphones is okay when we were growing up we did not have this technology even if we did we could not afford them so why not let our children have what we didn't
-
I do agree that children shouldn't be given a top smartphone as their first phone. They need to understand how you earn things like that and maybe when they are old enough *cough* 40yrs *cough* to understand the way of living first.
This is just my opinion. But definitely not agree with what Crapple is trying to do. Bullsh*t

Very well said

Ha ha ha ha

Yes. Get off my lawn. Land of the free doesnt mean you can do anything you want. My lawn is mine. If you are on it without my permission, it is called trespassing. You incorrect sense of entitlement is the problem. That is why kids don't need high end smartphones. Then they will want, feel they deserve, are owed everything else.
-
They'll probably just misspell the words, use slang or internet acronyms to get around it. Where there's a will theres a way, especially when hormones are involved. The direction that society is going, they'll just skip sexting altogether and go straight to sex. Great Jobs Steve!
-
basically it comes down to parenting, personally i would never allow my child a smart phone. maybe when they graduate high school. but if parents are letting their kids buy or giving them whatever they want, obviously they're gonna txt or say whatever they want too.
-
Me and my wife sext all the time. This better not happen or I'll have to find out what Evo or Droid does.
-
I got my first cell phone when I was 14 and it was an LG camera phone. Ten my first smart phone when I was 16 it was an MDA running wm5 lol. It was awesome back then but. Im 21 and on my 4th smartphone. It's worth every penny once youre in college but not in highschool.
Let's be honest, sexting is fckn awesome! Its not going to stop and a stupid little app isn't going to stop it. It's over the top and I would switch in a heartbeat to droid if they were to implement this.
PS: your kids are smarter than you think. They probably will know more about technology then you!
-
I hae a smartphone and i dont feel that.

Thank you!
