also, ipod touch 4g is requires a tethered jailbreak. so u have to re-run redsn0w and check mark the box that says ' just boot tethered right now'.everytime ur ipod powers off for any reason, u have to run redsn0w with that box checked.

Hi,I have the new ipod touch 4g softaware ver: 4.2.1.I followed some of your steps to jailbreak it but when I downloaded the "iOS 4.2.1 firmware file for iPod Touch 4G users (iPod4,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw)"and i opened "redsn0w" it doesn't find any firmware "iPod4,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw" in the folder? whats wrong????

Same problem here it only appears as a Zip file cant make it be an IPSW please some one comment on how to use the IPSW

I also have the same iPod Touch ... It even says thefirmware (iPod4,1_4.2.1_8C148_Restore.ipsw) is not compatible with both the iTunes restore and the redsn0w jail breaker ...

I did it all okay, and it worked, but then i conected it to itunes to sincronize it with music but i didnt do it okay, so everything was deleted from the ipod and i neded to jailbreak it again but now i can't, the process just dont finish it frezeez in the drive image, what should i do

i went through the process for my ipod touch 4g but cos it says to choose the 'Just boot tethered right now' from the window i dont understand how that option has jailbroken my ipod because i dont have the cydia jailbreak app on my home screen. so can somebody help me??

The damn Redsn0w program could have said that they currently cannot jailbreak the MC models of iPod Touches BEFORE I freakin restored my damn Touch for nothing... That was stupid as hell... Thanks anyway.

Hey if this doesn't work for u try black poison its dam easy to jailbreak using that, it takes only about 2-4 mins max and the job gets done perfectly so all round much better option and the only catch is that u need to have a wireless internet to download cidia via wifi on ur ipod touch after its been jailbroken but i'm sure u can arrange for that somehow :)

Re run the program to where the ipod says it is connected but needs to be restored. Then, from itunes, restore the ipod from an earlier date
