Geohot May Have An Untethered Jailbreak For iOS 4.2.1
MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team has revealed that Geohot, developer of popular tools to jailbreak and unlock iPhone like blackra1n, limera1n and blacksn0w may return to the iPhone jailbreaking scene with a untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1.
Few days back, we had speculated that the next jailbreak tool from Geohot may be called Rubyra1n based on the WhoIS record.

GeoHot, iphonehacks admin, or whoever is reading this: i c websites that post they have all jailbreaks n unlocks for all firmwares but it costs to download their software. is this a scam? i've been waiting for the 4.1 unlock for a very long time n tempted to do this but i don't trust them. i trust the dev team ppl n iphonehacks.com to give me all the info i need. but then again, curiosity kills the cat...so has anyone ever try to dl their software?

thank you all! i guess these sites make big bucks for ppl that r seriously desperate. im glad i didnt get scammed. i mean $30 is not a lot but knowing that u just wasted $30 on nothing n got scammed is disturbing.

whatever geohot releases i hope it is better than the crappy redsn0w untethered solution!!i appreciate the dev team work but if u want to release uncomplete hack and disable functions on your idevice please do not bother

I'm sure he'll do it. I think he likes the fame that come's with slapping apple and other hackers alike. But if people bug him about it, he'll probably loose the motivation to do it.

This GeoHot guy is insane. Like holy crap. He seems to just come out of nowhere with these hacks. And rumour has it that he has the PS3 rootkey??? He hacked the cell processors!???

Where is YOUR unlock or jailbreak? If you can't do it yourself, shut up and wait. You're depending on the kindness of strangers, and there's no guarantee they'll come through. Beggars can't be choosers, but they sure can be losers.

Geohot (like him or not) is like a ninja, jedi, geek rolled into one. His work on ps3 old and new, plus his iDevice contributions have been incredible. He's not getting rich on this stuff, let him have his fame.

We aren't paying these guys a dime to do any of this work. Whatever they release is free and has been free since day one. Just say thank you and enjoy it when it gets here. In the mean time make due or get an Android phone so you don't have to worry about someone else providing you with software hacks that are already generally available. ;)

Of course I have the latest untethered jailbreak. I wouldn't be me if I didn't. Just hold on to your seats cause you might be surprised with a sooner than later release!

I appreciate what they do considering that its free, but I'm fine at 4.1 for now. Why's there always a big rush for the Dev team and Geo hot to jailbreak the next firmware? Unless you just bought a new device and can't unlock its not that big of a deal. I mean Apple makes new enhancements and adds more functionality, but nothing that groundbreaking from one release to the next, at least nothing that makes me so impatient that I blog on the net complaining about not get the latest jailbreak from guys who do this entirely for free, thats just crazy. I am a little impatient for an unlock, but since tmobile changed their unlimited data plan to 200mbs I don't really care any more.

I just got the Samsung Galaxy S 19000 and its way better than my JB 3Gs I've just rooted it and over clocked the CPU just a bit from 10000 to 11200 I need the untethered JB so I can sell it for a better price on ebay please be quick with it.

I did just get my hands on a brand new iphone 4 about 2 weeks ago and it came straight from the factory with 4.2.1 and baseband 03.10.01. I was able to do an tethered jailbreak but I am with tmobile so I'm still using my whack 3g until there is an official unlock. I leave my iphone 4 in the box collecting dust. ;-[

will there ever be an unlock for baseband 5.14.2+ without the need to upgrade to the ipad firmware? i just wanna know cause I'm not unlocking till there is, but i really want to.

Its all just "what if" twitter gossip is non-news. They all pound there chest and say Im the best... but they all are full of themselves. Untethered 4.2.1 isnt going to happen. They will wait till after 4.3 has been released in mid February.
