If the new iPhone had a slide-out keyboard, that will be the day I switch to Android. I don't need the extra weight and thickness of a keyboard I'm not going to use, ever.

This is not going to be released, at least anytime soon!Apple probably thought of doing it, and that word got spread, but they always think of new idea's that they never use. ie: Touchscreen Imac..Anyways, this is just all bull, as with the Iphone nano , waste of time and money. The Iphone 4 is only 159 on contract.. thats nothing to the average Canadian/American so come on. Just make the Iphone slimmer.

I sure hope that a slide out never comes to iPhone. I type faster on screen and don't want that extra added bulk for a useless extension.

I do care what it has as long as it will be able to use it without a data plan ,i wish some one could write a hack to use it on at&t without a data planthen we would have a free iphone from high cost

No need for a slide out keyboard... Everything is touchscreen now or going touchscreen.

there is no need for a slide out keyboard apple knows that, and will not put it on the next iphone. they aren't stupid. Physical keyboards are going to be obsolete one phones one day. The touch screen keyboard is what iPhone users are used to, and throwing a slide out keyboard into the mix will not turn out good.

Even retaining the current thickness design of the iPhone4, it would seem that the slide out keyboard will be to prone to breaking (screen/kb weight ratio)and a "new" typing style needs to be adopted for both hands.

One of the arguments for making the first iPhone was getting rid of physical keyboard. I don't believe Apple will launch this. The only function would be typing in landscape. The 8mp cam seems realistic though.

Steve Jobs has spent four generation of iPhone to make people to get used the virtual keyboard, he hates any form of button, may even replace the home button...

Going with the physical keyboard is like going backward in technology. It they're going to do that, then might as well add back a slide out antenna.

yes. controlling some of the games with a touchscreen is crap. i got big hands and i find playing games like NOVA, battlefield that my fingers block half the screen.also typing is quicker with buttons. had touchscreen phones for the last 4-5 years and still cant write a text as quick as i could on my old nokia 3210.contracts up in the summer. if apple release iphone 5 with a keyboard then am gettin it. if not then its andriod for me.

ya first an iphone without a home button, now one with a slide out keyboard? what is it gonna be next? i highly doubt this is true. the day apple stops reinventing technology, aka using peripheral divices such as keyboard in their phones will be the ultimate demise of the company

So you expect that the data plan should be free to use? I disagree. There is no such thing as free lunch. Sure if they did remove data plan, how will you surf? How are you going to manage to pay a lot of money because it will be very pricy. If you don't want a data plan on your iphone. Ditch the iphone and go back to using a feature phone that does not require a data plan.

Agree. Looks like Steve finally listened to my email. The FACT is some people will never leave their physical keyboard no matter what. They got used to it and don't want to switch. End of Story.If Apple offers a version of iphone with physical keyboard, it's game over for many cell phone makers. Market dominance at it's best, right before our eyes.

I would rather see Swype introduced than a physical keyboard.

the upside to a physical keyboard would be for gaming (something that iphone lacks) you can map the keys to use something like a gamegripper and accually have a gaming control d-pad and buttons. this would make certain games better. trying to use a touch screen with your fingers in the way while trying to see the screen and playing a game.

hi hello everyone, i believed that innovation for the new generation smart phone, physical keyboard is no longer in touch to a young generation so touch and voice command cryomitrix technology is needed.

I'm against the physical keyboard but I'm all for Haptic feedback!!!! And perhaps for those who absolutely need it a addon/detachable keyboard.

i have blackberry as work phone the small keys are just kut! (dutch word for possy..)compere with my iphone... but as seal stratigic it will work. iphone with keyboard will apile to people who have problems with touch screen.
