iPhone Dev Team Confirms Untethered Jailbreak For iOS 4.3.1 Is ‘Solid’
We had reported couple of days back that iPhone hacking expert Stefan Esser who goes by the Twitter handle i0n1c had figured out a way to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1, which was untethered.
He had also handed over the the untethered iOS 4.3 jailbreak to iPhone Dev team so that they could test it before releasing it to users. MuscleNerd, one of the members of the iPhone Dev team has revealed that the untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak is 'solid'.

comex said his exploits for ipad were patched up after 4.3.1 update. Therefore, this release does not apply to ipad 2.

A good number of JBers are using phones on an original carrier and / or running an officially unlocked phone. I think unlocking is less a priority then keeping a user base of JB apps.I kinda wish Cydia would block pirate sources. I feel jailbreaking wasn't as hot an issue until such things came into the limelight. I felt in the beginning Apple was ok with JBers as it kept the tweekers in the customer base, but it was scarey enough to keep the newbs away from it.But I digress. Keep up the good work guys! Patiently waiting for a stable JB. :)

The unlock is already out. Buy the iphone at retail or call ATT and get an unlock code if you're no longer under contract with them. There's also that sim chip unlock option.

I'd expect that 99%+ of the people waiting on the untethered jailbreak use the phone on their original carrier, so I have to agree that an unlock would be nice but it would only be used by a very small subset of the people who jailbreak their iphones.

copy n paste from another site...iOS 4.3 is jailbreakable, but the iPad 2 isn’t… yet. The new A5 SoC presents a new and unique challenge for jailbreakers like the Dev Team, but if history is any guide, they’ll have a working jailbreak sooner or later, and quite possibly sooner rather than later, if a new tweet by Dev Team member p0sixninja is anything to go by.Here’s hoping we’ll see an iPad 2 jailbreak in a few weeks: I’d like to cram a few more icons in my dock.

been using the tethered jb and it work fine but getting an untethered would help with various cydia files I use.
