iH8sn0w had released Sn0wbreeze 2.5.1 few weeks back, which allows users who want to jailbreak and also unlock their iPhone to update their iPhone with a pre-jailbroken iOS 4.3.1 while preserving the baseband from getting upgraded so that it can be unlocked using Ultrasn0w.
This guide will provide iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS users with step-by-step instructions to update and jailbreak their iPhone with iOS 4.3.1 while preserving their iPhone's baseband.

It's going to happen when there is a full moon eclipse and there is a tectonic shift in molecular polarity of the sun.It will be a full unlock, allowing people to call the past. Great instucction very detailed and informative. However, if the iOS 4.3.2 is comIng out in a week or so, apparently to fix some bugs, shouldn't we wait for the next release than jailbreak !

For anyone interested, I just saw on Sherif Hashims twitter he is using the Gevey sim card. Even though he retweeted the fact it is illegal. I guess thats a bad sign when a "baseband hacker" is using an illegal sim card spoofer.He said its only because people were asking about it. I think he is just getting ready to say they can't unlock the i4. That's ridiculous.

Well, for nowit's sn0wbeeeze since you need to preserve your modem firmware to whatever mentioned above, for the ultrasn0w to work from cydia.

Hello everyone I have a question.For those ppl had updated their baseband to 6.15 and they r on 4.1 FW can they still update To 4.3.1 using redsnow or pwnageTool IPSW firmware?

Hi guys,I'm running 4.2.1 and 6.15.00 baseband on a 3GS. I desperatly need to get off this baseband. Can this tool help me downgrade my bb? I'm having horrible battey issues even after SAM prefs. My phone never lasts more than 6 hours with minimal usage. Please Help..

Just followed the instructions to the letter. After phone restored, I got the itunes, and cable thing, then I placed my old AT&T sim in the phone to get it past the emergency screen, and NO CYDIA is there.I have an iPhone 4 GSM and my modem version IS at 1.59.00, but no Cydia. How can I get Cydia on here?? I'm stuck..

i had the same problem. i went with this guide starting on step 4.http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=14562as long as you don't restore using itunes, it won't update baseband.

why is sn0wbreeze file only ever on hotfile? I can never get it to download.Is there a reason for this? Just hangs? is that because every bastard is trying to download it.Why not spread the load over different file servers?

After the Step 14, iphone wouldn't reboot, it just stays black screen. iturn still in DFU. i have tried a few times, it didn't work.

@ Littlethe instructions above is wrong :( .. I too fell into the trap like you. Open your ultrasn0w again and recreate that ipsw file, but this time select the expert mode. Thats the one that will jailbreak.. I am trying it now and will update you in a few mins

No Cydia Installer, updated to iOS 4.3.1 / Baseband 1.59.00 using Sn0wbreeze 2.5.1. Any clues?

Didn't work.. Now going back to 4.0.. Will try jailbreaking to 4.3.1 again after downgrading to 4.0

I followed the directions above, but when trying to use snowbreeze 2.5.1 with the 4.3.1 ipsw file, it just fails and says that it can't create an ActiveX control. Any ideas as to why, or how to fix it?

The problem is Step 7 you should chose Simple Mode that will install Cydia all modes preserve baseband as the window in Snowbreeze says.

Ok, now that you ran it and created the custom firmware to preserve your baseband, you need to run through the process again and select "General" this time around. You'll see Cydia after this. I ran into the same ordeal. Lemmy know if it works.
