Folks at Rebel SIM Card have released a new accessory called Rebel 2Phone Dual Standby Sim Case, which will be useful for iPhone 4 users who want dual SIM cards functionality.
The accessory brings dual SIM functionality to iPhone 4, serves as secondary battery as it comes with a built in 800mAH battery and also protects the iPhone.

Does my iPhone need to be unlocked to be able to use another carrier Sim in the secondary sim slot?In the Rebel app is there a way to control which network is used for say calls, and which is used for data?

I'm pretty sure it's not tied to the baseband! As they say, the case in itself isnanphone. The main interface though is the iPhone with the jailbreak app. I read in another post u live in india, well so do I. I just study in the states. I think I mightninvest in this...:)

Yeah, I don't really understand the benefit of the second SIM unless it works like an unlock so I can use a third party SIM. Looks like you can since the picture shows T-Mobile as the carrier but nothing quite explains this properly in the article.

great solution, asuming the iphone must be unlocked, I'll concider to get get one. travelling extensively in europe and using different sim-cards depening on country in order to save roaming cost, this is something the phone producers do not want to happen, otherwise it would be standard in more phones

I couldn't give you the name but i know i've seen a similar case for ipod touch couple of month ago. So if this one doesn't work on ipod , google Sprint’s ZTE Peel Case Giving iPod Touch Users Mobile Internet . though i do not know if you can call with it .

Please re-read the article. It states that you *need* to jailbreak the iphone4 for this hardware _and_ software solution to work. If your phone is also locked, I'm reasonably sure you'd need to unlock it too. Because that's what a lock is - something to prevent you from using different telcos.

In some areas you can get a cheap data SIM, or a cheap phone SIM, but not both features in a single (cheap) SIM. Dual-SIM can be useful if it is possible to direct the phone to make voice calls using one SIM and access data over the other SIM. I'm not sure if this software supports this or not.However, another use for some people is to separate out their business and personal phone numbers, yet use a single handset.Hope you understand some benefits now! ;-)

you ask the other guy to please reread the article, so Lavender I ask you do the same. The added hardware in itself is a phone. It uses the iphone's gui as an interface, but with the jailbreak app, it gives you two carriers. No need to unlock. Your iphone is jailbroken and locked to its original carrier, and your added hardware, is using its own sim card to make calls on its own network. The software lets you select which phone your using to call out.

I want it for my iPod touch. Peel from China dosen't work for 4.2.1 ipod 3G/4G and it is only for under 4.1. So annoying!

It says that it has a "built-in quadband GSM phone" but then it says that it takes a sim card. How can it be GSM if it takes a sim? Is this a way to add GSM to sim phones?

Sim cards are mandatory for GSM. Sim (Subscriber Identity Module but the correct name is nowadays UICC) holds the subscriber info and other network info that the handset loads and uses to connect to the network. The UICC have the encryption keys which is used to authenticate to the network and then the PLMN list on which networks it should connect too and so on and on and on.Time for you to read up on GSM specs :) GSM 11.11 is a good read.

does not work for me, my iphone has jailbreak, in manufacture unlocked and i can enter the pin on my 2iphone simcard, but after only shows no service ... so useless at this point of time.. already tried with 2 different simcard's, try to install and re-install the app and nothing...
