iPhone 4S Has Only 512MB RAM
It has been widely speculated that iPhone 4S will come with 1GB RAM. But doubts were raised last week when Chair Entertainment’s creative director Donald Mustard who had been involved in the development of Infinity Blade 2 that was demoed at the Let's Talk iPhone event had inadvertently mentioned that iPhone 4S comes with only 512MB.

Oh lalala. Apple was tricking all people talk and action iphone 5, but release iphone 4s with 512ram???? What is the 4s different 4g??????? I am not throwing my money.

There must be Siri specific hardware somewhere in the 4s. Would explain why the chronic dev team has had issues getting it going on iphone 4.

The memory issue is not so bad on the iPhone as on the iPad with the larger screen size. The biggest use of Ram in my programs is the backing store for views (I.e. The pixel data) which can get rather big on the iPad when using popups or multiple view controllers. The iPhone isn't so bad since there isn't enough room for multiple windows and popups. I would definatelt like to see this upgraded on the iPad 3 though.

I feel more memory probably should've been added. if you're going to boost the processor why not add a little more memory. But then again, if it's not needed why waste the time and money. I guess I can't fault apple for not adding more if they didn't feel there was a reason to add it (super phone xyz having 1 GB of memory is not a good enough reason)

if i buy a new 4S on verizon or Sprint.will the GSM portion be unlocked? will it work in the US under AT&T/ T-mobile?????some other dual processor phones from RIM are sold unlocked....I just wondered.....

In some way its exciting to figure out what's in the new device before someone gets it.If you don't like rumors, you always have the option to skip that article.

Yes, true... but which article hasn't had some type of rumors in it??? I like reading about everything but to jump the gun about almost everything like they have done for the last 5months just pisses me off... Theres only a few days to go and they still going at it!!!

Not exactly certain - they have no hard proof of this... once again, its just "rumor" like i was trying to say at the start. But we'll just wait n see till Friday comes :)

lol you can't be serious. Judging from one of the previous articles stating 1 million users have already pre-ordered I think you might be a little off in your assumptions. Not to mention, specs mean nothing if the user experience does not match it. From that standpoint, HTC and android in general has a little catching up to do.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the iPhone 4 only has 256mb of Ram and I have never had problems running apps or games with that amount. The only apps that crash on me are Jailbroken and that's rare. When the software is written correctly you don't need gobs of memory. Especially on a device that doesn't do a true multitasking.

Sorry nick .. you are wrong .. its 512 mb with about 327mb free when I kill all processes.One jailbreak tweek I love is knowing exactly how much memory I have left.

Agreed, there was one for the 3G to enable wallpaper and multitasking when only the 3Gs and i4 could handle it... Unless the 4Gs has a mic hardware upgrade I can't imagine that Cydia will have a tweak to enable Siri. I'm sticking with my 4G until next years i5 is released.

If it's true that apple is not increasing it's Ram in new iPhone 4s than I think the new dual core processors will have to divide the Ram equally during heavier tasks so this mean each processor will have 256mb which I think is not so good for Advance Graphics Apps

Martinet that is not how dual core processors work. Both processors access the full amount of memory, it's the processes that each processor will share in the load, in essence, you have 2 people working on 1 job compared to 1 person working on 1 job, thereby the speed increase. Unless the 1 guy was a genius and the 2 guys were stupid, then in that case having 2 guys work on a job would slow things down considerably.

The 4s probably would have been released in June had they not had to accommodate Verizon and Sprint .. I guess with the longer wait I was just expecting more...still a nice phone tho just didn't have to wait this long for the 3gs..Gotta love politics..

I just hope there will be a Siri jailbreak so I can change the voice. I had a TomTom in Europe with different voices; mr. t, Ozzy, etc. Would love to see this come.
