Siri Ported To iPhone 4 [Updated]
We have some good news for iPhone 4 users who were hoping that Siri - Apple's revolutionary personal assistant feature, that is exclusively available only on Apple's iPhone 4S, can be enabled on iPhone 4.
9 to 5 Mac reports that they have been working with iPhone developer and hacker Steven Troughton-Smith to have managed to successfully port Siri to iPhone 4.

That works horribly in the video. Granted, its obviously an early test but the whole phone is so slow, it's unusable. I can see why it wasn't supported on the iPhone 4 if they never manage to get it runnin faster than that.

Apple's way of business!

Maybe these hacks are screwing with Apple servers, and why Siri stopped working in my 4S! http://iphone.cnet.com/Article.rbml?nid=20120820&bid=248&test=20120820&assetType=BLOG_POST&beginStartDate=20110916&endStartDate=20111015

How about porting in the other A5 processor iPad2?
-
finally a good news for iphone 4 ,now waiting for untethered jailbreak
-
@stroughtonsmith it would be very nice if we iphone 4 users can use that Siri. I know I would love it. I hope we could get that upgraded into our iPhone 4 soon. Thanks
-
How can I get this on my iPhone 4
-
I believe Apple held it back from iPhone 4 iOS 5 so it could sell more of the iPhone 4S
-
I think if Apple enable the Siri to the iPad2 it will be much better than the 4s.
-
Same reason iPad doesn't have VoiceOver
-
Damn, that would be sweet to get it fully functioning. I'd love to have it on my iPhone 4.
-
wonder what the cydia app will be called for the release of it.
-
Don't you get it? Something is wrong with the custom drivers and copy paste they did, because the phone is slow also WITHOUT using the app!!! They should have mixed some specific libraries that are made for another hardware, and of course, run bad on iPhone 4! It is somewhat like trying a NVIDIA GPU to run with AMD drivers, despite being equally fast each one with their own drivers. The issue is NOT lack of power, it is because the libraries were written for a different hardware. No Siri for 4 because they want to sell a lot of 4S because it is the most profitable phone ever between production cost and sales price

Business as usual for apple. The same way iOS 4.3.5 is restricted from using there ibook on device.
-
How about untethered jailbreak??, I think this can wait! more important is the untethered! at the end apple knows why they don't enable this on other iOS devices, remember the multitasking??
-
Why isn't he talking and giving a command????????
-
Would be great if he could give it a command so we can actually see it performing on the iPhone 4.
-
They are getting there. Siri could be enabled in no time on iP4 (although I would say limited) but it is better than nothing ;) Keep going Steven
-
Yes I agree with some other poster. This can wait. I am desperately waiting for a jailbreak for both of iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on iOS 5 (whether tethered or not). PLEASE!!!
-
Check the update it works alot faster now
-
Maybe this guy isn't a jailbreaker and that's why he's working on porting Siri and not an untethered iOS 5 jailbreak. I could be wrong but I don't think I've ever read or heard his name come up in any previous jailbreaks. I think he should continue working on Siri. And I believe it's exlusive to the 4s as a selling point to boost sales. Otherwise the 4s is just a more powerful iPhone 4. It's not like all the apps taking advantage of the a5 in the iPad 2 aren't already running on the iPhone 4 and look pretty much the same due to the smaller retina display.

I thought it could work nicely on an iPad2...

You can make the iPhone and iPad run faster if it was jailbroken. For iPad go to cydia> sources> edit> add> type http://repo.insanelyi.com/> then click add anyway( you need to be a hacker to do this) > then find Speed Intensifier> install. Then go to settings search for speed in intensifier and change your speed. For iPhone go to cydia> manage> Sources> edit> add> http://repo.insanelyi.com/ ( you also need to be a hacker)> add anyway> find speed intensifier> install> go to settings> find speed intensifier and change your speed.

Sorry for iPhone I ment http://repo.insanely.com/

Steven,I think you are doing a great job on this. Once again apple has managed to slap its current customers in the face by withholding the goods. And calling it a hardware component support issue, which clearly is not. I tell you regardless of this working on the 4 or not I was not buying a 4S as this one feature is not worth the $200 bucks and a 2yr contract. Sorry apple, but looks like you look like an idiot for lying once again (Congratulations). Steven, Thank you for working on this and posting it (even if limited its better than Apples falsely set boundaries!) Keep up the good work!

If I port Siri to my iPhone 4... Will it hurt or void my warranty? . Also will it affect future updates in IOS?
-
Oh common, it should be there on the iPad 2.
-
If you woul have read the article then you have noticed the line saying "Siri on the iPhone 4 can recognize spoken commands in both the standard Siri view and the keyboard Dictation view. The only issue at this point is that Apple is not authenticating (obviously) commands to its servers from iPhone 4 hardware. ". That is why he is not saying anything. Just no point there is it.? :)

I agree with your statement. Apple can seem to come across as penny pinchers. I mean the phone is over priced for one and why don't they build a good spec phone which is future proof as in upgradable components for a reasonable price at an apple store, keep the same price structure or lower it so more people can afford to buy the iPhone and charge a small fee for major IOS upgrades like from 3 to 4, 4 to 5, 3 to 5 etc.I don't really like giving my ideas for free as some fucker fromapple gets paid for this ****!
