Redsn0w For iOS 5 Updated To Fix Location Services Issue; Also Includes Cosmetic Fix
Few hours after iOS 5 was released last week, Dev team had released Redsn0w 0.9.9b4 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running iOS 5.
iPhone Dev team has just released a new version of Redsn0w - Redsn0w 0.9.9b6, which includes a fix for the locations services issue reported by iPhone 3GS users with 06.15 baseband and cosmetic fix for iOS 5 jailbreakers.

Why you need untethered jb.... I am using tether jb ATM... No trouble at all!!! You guys SUCK WITH IPHONE!!!! Or get TWO iPhones.... Problem solve!!

You guys need to realize they do this for free, and all your bitching and complaining isn't helping matters. If you don't want tethered you shouldn't have jailbroken your device. I jailbroke my iPad and while tethering is a bit of a hassle at times, I am grateful I can run IOS5 jailbroken. Quite your whinning and show some respect, they are not entitled to do anything and they don't owe you ****.

My question is if we already have a tethered I device, when the untethered one comes out will we be able to just re-run the new JB over the one we have to go from tethered to untethered? Or will it involve some restoring and rejailbreaking? There probably isn't a 100% definite answer, but does anyone have any insight?

Yeah, in the past, if your using redsnow to do the first jailbreak it's will probably just have to be reran over the existing jailbreak. But I don't have anything to do with the dev team but that my experience with the last time this happened. Maybe it was with ios 4, not sure but I do remember just jail breaking right over existing to untether.

You're a clown! Some cydia apps you install require a restart, which then will require you to plug your iphone into the PC to start it up again. If you can't help or say anything use, Shut up!

I hope they find a bootrom exploit for 4s .. it was perfect for the old 3gs and upgrading to new ios releases when they became available

OK, I'll ask again - this post says it only supports the GSM iPhone 4, but what about the CDMA iPhone 4 (Verizon)? Does it work on it?

You crack me up, although I'm curious too. I thought you needed a PC with iTunes installed, maybe all you need is Redsnow and the ipsw file?

Another thought for you, if you carry your laptop with you, you essentially have a portable USB power supply to charge your iPhone with. No more running out of battery!

Me too , one of my iPhone is 3GS old BR. It is runing nicely but many cydia App are still not compatable . Few are crashing and today the remove SBSitting start to crash and not working. Also iMassege is not activating ( don't no why ?? ) I think it is nice but I will not install it on my 4g for now.

My 3GS has old BR...:-) need guidance here as do I upgrade to iOS 5 via iTunes first then jailbreak using redsn0w or just jb with redsn0w with even first upgrading to iOS 5. Many thanks

Is your 3GS on an iPad baseband? That's why iMessage won't activate, just like mine. Enable MMS, and send iMessages via Apple IDs. That works.

If you are lucky enough to have an old-bootrom iPhone3GS, please pre-select the IPSW first (redsn0w can’t yet auto-detect the FW version of your old-bootrom 3GS if it’s already been jailbroken)."There's something not right with the instructions above, at least for me.Once I hit the 'Jailbreak' button it gets me straight to the DFU mode and says my bootroom's exploited so it can't proceed. To my understanding that means reinstalling the Custom IPSW and have it jailbroken again. Is that what it actually meant? That means the 'uncheck Cydia' instruction is invalid then. Is that how it's supposed to be? I'm on the iPad baseband by the way.ps: will there be an iMessage fix for 3GS users on the iPad baseband?
