iPhone And Android Update History
When Apple unveiled iOS 5 earlier the year, iPhone 3GS users were relieved to find out that it was also compatible with their devices. This meant that iOS 5 was compatible with three iPhone generations - the new iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.
Michael Degusta has published an awesome chart that provides an overview of the update history for Android-based smartphone.

This chart is a perfect example of the failings of Android. Leaving the software update system up to multiple parties just plain sucks, especially when combined with bloatware.

if you check the ios version kill the performance of all iphone ,iphone 2 ,iphne 3 and 3sso make update it's not good if this update kill device better not do this update at all

I got my HTC Desire 18 months ago. During the first 10 months there were constants updates, however, I haven't had a Software update so far this year.

People just don't get it... They think Apple is such a control freak. But there are reason for that. It works out best for the end-users. Now you want to customize? Just jailbreak and you still get the best of both world.

Almost every post I have read in the past 2 years has bad grammar or missing words, usually in the first 2 paragraphs. I don't think the posts are re-read before publishing. And I am by no mean an expert.

Love this website. I have been coming here for years but all these new ads popping out every where, SUCK!!! I understand you need to pay the bills but please keep ads to a normal level iphonehacks.....oh about the article, that's why I have an iPhone. I feel safe when buying one because I know my investment wont be obsolete in a couple months.

The majority of android users don't even know they have an android. I'm talking about the general non tech consumer. They know it's "like an iphone" but cheaper, so they got it. These consumers don't know what version it runs and don't care. When they feel they can afford an iphone, they'll just switch.The only android users who care are the somewhat technical noobs who think using one makes them a tech geek. I see it with my own eyes all the time. Guys that don't even understand command line utilities, but they know how to tinker with following step by step instructions to wipe a pc clean and install a new operating system.

I know off topicI was just at an apple store (Glendale galaria) and I noticed a display iPhone 4s had a black theme for safari as far as I could tell it was NOT jailbroken but I asked an employee and checked all the settings that I could fine but couldn't figure out how it got black.Anybody know how to change it

Safari goes black in private browsing mode. Go to settings, Safari and switch it off.

Private Browsing was on. I recently turned on for mine and noticed that it had a black theme as a result.I don't know if this is iOS 5-specific or not.

The black safari wasn't just safari. You can make everything that way. Settings>general>accessibility>white on black.

dont need jb this works everytime. all you need is the old ios put phone in dfu shift restore, point to old ios and update,you get error and do it again. now you get another error and be stuck in recovery just use tinyumbrella to kick out of recovery and connect to itunes to activate.so even though you get errors it still changes the ios to old one
