How To Jailbreak iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G Running iOS 5.0.1 Using Redsn0w [Updated]
Apple released iOS 5.0.1 few weeks back, which includes fixes for bugs that was affecting battery life.
Dev team has advised iOS device users to hold off upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 until the flow for downgrading to iOS 5 is developed.
But if you've already upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 or can't wait any longer and want to jailbreak your iPod touch then you've come to the right place. We will take you through the step by step procedure to jailbreak your iPod touch on iOS 5.0.1 using Redsn0w.

I think you need to make one important change in the "Troubleshooting" section. Whenever you want to "just reboot," you also need at the same time to select the IPSW again. If you don't do this, you will get an "Unexpected build" error. So the process of re-booting is always twofold: first, select your IPSW, then select "Just Reboot" and follow the directions to get to DFU mode.

I follow your instructions but when I got and select my IPSW file there is nothing to select. I have win 7 and I donwladed the right files numerous times. Please help

I just want to throgh this out there but I AM SO AWESOME I GOT SUCH A BIG SMILE ON MY FACEAFTER I JAILBROKE MY IPOD AFTER A YEAR I FINNALY CAN JAILBREAK MY IPOD THANK YOU GUYS but ok back to you lol i had the same trouble what you will have to do is go you your computers name like Somers is my its with all the folders of downloads music video games the main one then you go to app data, local, temp and then it should be there no deeper into other folders. im typeing this minites after i just confirmed my idevice is jailbroken I HOPE TO HELP YOU AND EVERYONE I STILL HAVE THAT HUGE SMILE ON MY FACE lol

ok it says it on your desktop popup or what ever it doesn't matter just open that thing up click extra and then find the thing you downloaded and click the top one above the select ipw or whatever its the top one of the list just boot it or whatever sorry i cant be more detailed i just jailbroke mine and i want to hury up and mess with my new (JailBroken) iDevice any question just ask

I just lost most of my apple apps including safari and app store after i started cydia it said something about firmware i think?

I'm having trouble. I get upto dfu mode it exploits it with limera1n, uploads with first stage and then redsn0w shuts itself down???

Hey guys thanks for the post, although i am trying to re jailbreak my iphone with the new firmware all is good i have downloaded all the correct stuff and everything seems fine but as soon as i go to set to dfu mode redsnow comes up with a statement saying "the connected device doesn't support untethered options" any idea how i can fix this i am missing my jail broken phone majorly!! it the best ever. :-)

just search for it in the search menu with you swipe to the very left and everything will come up there to use :-) i also has the app store go missing but its still there to use just do a search to select. :-)

FIRST THANK TO EVERYONE DOING THIS GREAT JOB, BUT I HAVE IPOD TOUCH 4G AND I HAVE SAME "Horacio" PROBLEM WHICH THAT I CANT FIND "IPSW file" IN ANYWHERE EVEN IN TEMP FOLDER, AND I ASKED MAYBE THE "Extension" OF THE FILE IS UNKNOWN SO I DONT RECOGNIZE IT! , NOTE / I WORKED ON WINDOWS 7 , THANK ALOT.

ok, so ive got ipod touch 4g, and i went to jail break it, got all the right files, and im on windows 7 but running redsn0w in windows xp service pack 2. redsn0w will find my device, but then after the uploading stage one will just say "exploit failed" im new to this, what does it mean????????

problem i am facing is strange after the jailbreak of my ipod touch 4g i do tethered jailbreak and cydia icons come in brown colour but when i install any app or game it gives ERROR:-cannot install .failed to install.please help .thanks a ton in advance
