Untethered Jailbreak Works With iPhone 4 Running iOS 5.0.1
Here's some more good news for jailbreakers, especially iPhone 4 users. pod2G has just confirmed that he has successfully performed an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4 running on iOS 5.0.1.
Couple of days back pod2G who has been a member of the Chronic Dev team had demoed an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 on an iPod touch but had hinted that it should work on iPhone 4.

That's because there isn't and exploitable kernel vulnerability for them yet. If there was, we'd already have tethered jailbreaks for them

This is great news after this update I'm done with updates for a long time.finally goodbye ios4 I just hope there won't be any bugs or issues with battery or anything else but I have use green poison before and I haven't had any problems before so I'm going for this one for sure besides I have been waiting for a untethered jailbreak for a long time so great job just hope it release soon

I guess no 4S JB yet. Remember few weeks back someone showed us a ROOT access on 4S ? What happen to that ? I guess still; in development so it can be used in "user" conditions and not brick device. Anyhow GJ on iPhone 4 JB and keep it up !

That's what I don't understand.... I bought a Iphone 4S from At&t locked to their network on Ios 5.0.1 Factory. I've never even Updated it now I'm wondering the same thing now... I have a 3gs with Straight Talk... Now when i popped that Sim into an At&t it wasn't locked just had to get email setup and MMS.

I already new it could be jailbroken. I jailbreaked my ipod 4G on 5.0.1 this morning with redsnow with the guide that is here on this website.

Need some advise. Haven't done a jb since iPod 3rd gen so sort of a newbie again. I bought an iPhone 4s and did not update anything. It came with 5.0.1 out of the box. Based on the recent jb news, should I do anything to prepare for upcoming jb (assuming it works for my device) like save my blobs with Ifaith or tinyumbrella ( don't know which one to use) and I keep hearing talk about OTA, don't know what that means nor how to prepare for it. Someone pls help, don't wanna miss out on new in when it's released, thanks again.

Why is everyone so worked up about tethered?? Big fn deal.. So you have to plug ur iPhone into a computer for 30sec once a month. I just want a jailbreak for my iPad 2, dont care if its tethered...Totally sucks having to go through a bunch of menus everynight to turn off push mail and such just so I don't get notifications waking me up. Come to think of it if apple implement sbsettings and sbschedule in iOS 5.2 I won't even need a jailbreak. Wonder what will come first :P

OTA means "over the air" and are delta updates which you can get over wifi or 3G-network.... so you could now update your iOS without your computer nor iTunes.... for now you should disable this and wait for the jailbreak for 5.0.1 for your 4S (if applicable)... then when you are jailbroken and Cydia installed your blobs are saved over saurik's server....
