How to Install iPhoto And iMovie on iPhone 4S / iPhone 4 / iPad 2 on iOS 5.0.1
Last week, alongside the third generation iPad and new Apple TV, Apple showcased a number of apps that took advantage of the improved hardware of the new iPad.
One of them was iPhoto for iOS, which brings advanced photo editing capabilities to the iPad, using touch based gestures.

in step 5, Change the value from 5.0.1 to 5.1 shouldnt that be change it from 5.1 to 5.0.1?
-
my bad, your changing the iphone os firmware not the apps plist..
-
Just done the steps and got I photo installed on my iPhone 4 but it seems to have affected my signal. I had full signal before changing the product version from 5.0.1 to 5.1, now I changed it back, still no signal
-
I followed the steps and it works on my ipad2 however only on the 'effects' button the app crashes, any solution for this?
-
Im stucked with Step11.Tap on the Search tab and type iPhoto501Fix (without installing the fix, iPhoto kept crashing on the iPhone 4S for us)- no results found when searching iPhoto501Fix
-
Worked perfect on iPad 2 now will try my iPhone 4 :)
-
Kill Cydia running in the background from the multitasking tray and try again. You should fine iPhoto501Fix this time.
-
Step 11 ist not possible. I have Cydia removed fom background. Searching for iPhoto501Fix brings no result. If I am boring?
-
worked fine over here on my 4s
-
it's not working for iMovie
-
successfully installed and running on 5.0.1 with one flaw ...when you take new photo with the camera and you launch the app, it will take time "updating photo list" very weird !!!! i don't know if that's normal or not...
-
not sure why but my app store catagories is now in chinese after installing cydia tweak & even after removing iphoto501fix it still hasn't fixed it......any fix for that or is it just me?
-
Iphone hacks, this method is very long and totally unnecessary, not to mention that besides paying 7$ for Iphoto, you have to pay another 10$ for IFile. Just get the Iphoto for 5.1 from the Appstore and download Iphoto 5.0.1 fix from Cydia. That's it!
-
May be you missed it, you can't install iPhoto on iOS 5.0.1 unless you change the version in the SystemVersion.plist ... this post and the fix for iPhoto wouldn't have been required if you could :)
-
Works perfectly on my iPad 2, 5.0.1! I got it from Instalous, not from the App Store, and installation run smoothly! Great work!
-
don't sync with iTunes, since it will firstly ask for activation and secondly erase it from your iOS device...so far the whole thing is pretty useless unless you only sync with iCloud
-
Ok, some of the edits don't really work ;)
-
Its working , install Iphoto from **** not app store and save 4.99
-
-
No, this is for people who are on 5.0.1 and want to install iPhoto. So we have to trick iTunes into thinking we are on 5.1.
-
Well what a nice workaround indeed.
-
Yes exactly. It crashes on effects. guys we need a solution for this.
-
When I went back to change back to 5.0.1 in ifile it was already 5.0.1 so I retyped it anyway and rebooted but the version in settings still showing 5.1. When I go to ifile it still shows 5.0.1 any ideas?
-
You probably changed the SystemVersion.plist% file, which is the backup file (which is why you also noticed it was still 5.0.1).You need to make changes in the SystemVersion.plist file.
-
You were absolutely right thanks!
-
Not exactly - succesfully downloaded iphoto on ios 5.0.1 from insyall0us and installed it without changing the plist. Installed the fix from Cydia and succesfully run iphoto on iPhone 4 5.0.1.
-
i can not found "iPhoto501Fix " have i to add another source to find this ?
-
Sorry, this article did not take into account stealing ... it is for those who want to buy the app from the App Store and can't do so on iOS 5.0.1.
-
Perfect. I tried doing a similar fix on my own hoping it would work... but it didn't. This works great though. Thanks.

Very nice!! Thanks guys :)
