Don't know if you have solved the problem, but I just used iTunes to reset the phone, and then i later came up with the question if I wanted to upgrade the carrier list: so I take it, that it was removed by the restore.

hey guys need help desperately...my sis had gifted me an iphone 2G 16GB...she had jailbroken it so that i could use it...i used to get messages on itunes about an upgrade for iphone..so i downloaded the update and installed it...but now the phone does not work...it displays " emergency calls only"...and in the itunes ..it says to insert the sim that can with the iphone...please help me out guys...

The carrier update, only appears when you have a available carrier sim pluged in. I had probe with diferent sims(from diferent carriers) and only appears the udpate option in the one that has a exclusivity with apple.
I have a 3g 2.2.1 baseband 2.30 and bootloader 5.9, and before y restore my device, it was working fine(with the same firmware, baseband and bootloader) using a turbosim. After restoring the iphone, the phone doesn't recognize my sim with turbosim.¿Anyone lnow how to fix this? mail me josemassanes@gmail.com

Please Help!!! I bought my iphone in Mexico so it wasnt suppose to work with At&t, I moved to the US and I only used it as an itouch instead of iphone, I accidentally hit the download and install update and now I cant use it. Everytime I try to plug it in my computer itues asks me for my sim card, I dont have one... what can I do to make it work again just as an itouch?

I need help!!!!
My Iphone locked when I decided to update the phone to the current 3.0 update. I can still access the keypad to make phone calls but cannot unlock the phone for anything else, the phone is a 8g Iphone and I currently have it globally unlocked.

Updated my carrier settings and now am trying to roam international..... cannot. Account is setup to roam intl and has done so on many business trips. Now, can view all local carriers (voda, tmobile, O2) but cannot connect as before. Just displays no service, even if i try to connect manually. Going back to older carrier file. Ant tips?

after doing my upgrade to 3.1 patched firmware and still en baseband 4.26.08 receivce a message my sim card is not inserted and is a lagal carrier (telcel) but im running utltrasnow before the upgrade , i put another sim card (movistar) no legal company and works fine, but my telcle chip doesn`t works anymore the same message insert a valid sim card, can you help me, please!!!

after read thru all the comment, I still confuse about to update the carrier setting for the unclocked/jailbreak iphone 3G....so, can the unlocked iphone download and install the carrier setting without re-lock the phone? if yes, so where to download it? thanks all

I just bought a 3GS 32 GB iPhone. It is unlocked with Blackra1n and has the version 3.1.2 , 5.11.07. Can I or Can't I update the carrier settings? And if I can will this enable MMS? Thanks for any info. Im new at this and need all the help I can get.

after i updated the current ver 3.1.3 and updated the carrier i have to foune in the network setting the Internet tethring but after i click restor to get my contacts and my SMS back i don't find the tethring

It worked for me as well on 3.1.2 and Blackra1n. Opened Rock and Cyndia - Fine. FWare still shows correct.

Yes you can. Enable MMS? The phone came with disabled MMS? Its on another network right? If thats the case, I would contact that network and ask about it. Truthfully if you are on AT&T they should be able to fix it for you, no matter what firmware you want/have. You can always let them upgrade you, find out the MMS is their fault for not working still, and then once they fix it downgrade and run rain again.

YES! All you do launch Itunes with it plugged in and its the first prompt you get. I have 3G and it workes fine here

not true. i did the "carrier update" on my jailbroken iphone 3G and it had no effect on my baseband. you may have updated the firmware instead.
my phone is still connecting perfectly fine to the FIDO network in canada.

Yes there will your phone will re-lock and wont work unless you get it unlocked again and you will lose the software.. keep it how it is.

Is Your phone also unlocked ? I realize it is a carrier setting update but apple can be very tricky... i am with telus and right now my phone is messed although telus is saying its their fault i cant help but think a carrier setting update may be help-full? But if my carrier is supposed to be rogers will it benefit me at all or just screw me over HELP!!

I live in Germany and get this dialog all the time now..Im not updating carrier settings until i know it's safe for unlocked, jailbroken phone like mine (3Gs, 4.0). You think At&T is bad? It is! But Telekom (Tmobile) in Germany is worse! Total mafia style! you get internet flat rate but once you've hit 300mb, it slows down to a crawl..which isnt fun at all, especially when the 3G here is already **** enough

hello everybody i've got an iphone 3g ios4.0.2 jailbroken and unlocked and i update the carrier settings and it works good also it do nothing for my modem frimware and when i change my sim card with anoter one on a diffrenet network it asks me to update the carrier settings and i update it and my iphone still unlocked and working on any sim card

not really true. you can update it to the new firmware AFTER a NEW jailbreak is developed for it. when that's available, then you can update and re-jailbreak and re-unlock it.
