i have the gm version i dl and when i try to update my phone it gives me a screen that says that the server is temporarily unavailable. then i try to hit the update button on itunes (8.2) and it keeps telling me that i already have the latest FW. i dont i still have the 5th beta installed.

ok. i am finished with the update.. going thru it.. i did not see any changes that from the 5th beta. my phone still looke the same. i dont see mms options. battery settings. and most of all that mumbo jumbo up there.. either all that is written on top is its only available for the 3g S. or it is a bunch of crap. the only thing i see that is discribed on top is lanscape qwerty board in txt. notes, safari, emails. i dont see movie dl options on the tunes store. what gives?????

To update if you cannot get a connection to the server, use the shift-restore method and find the 3.0 update in the Apple Computer directory....just finished.

But settings is one of the apps I had hidden (as it was in a folder under a jailbreak app)... but thanks anyway.

I think because it is still iPhone 3G while the new battery features are part of new iPhone 3GS.

Important question:
My iPhone 3G is software unlocked by Yellowsn0w, and there is no official new jailbreak/unlock software released yet. I don't mind waiting for jailbreak software to be released on Friday or later, but should I risk everything and upgrade now through iTunes then jailbreak/unlock my iPhone later? I am afraid once I lose the ability to unlock my iPhone then I won't become able to unlock the iPhone again because baseband may became updated on new OS 3.0
If it is safe, can anybody please confirm to me that, after you upgraded your iPhone to the new iPhone OS 3.0, that your baseband remained the same one that Yellowsn0w (and upcoming Ultrasn0w) are supposed to be working on it? Cheers. -
Ok! a good solution to the 3259 error is to disable your anti-virus completely until the end of the installation. This goes out to people especially using NOD32 because that is my anti-virus and disabling it helped.

You know if you guys that don't know you can also get the new software from www.apple.com. I was having problems too downloading but I tried the website and got it in 2 mins.

I updated from a jailbroken iphone and now everything i had in my categories folders won't show up on my iphone once i updated to 3.0, and now the app store says it is installed and will show up in my itunes app folder but on my actual phone. Has anyone else had this problem?

for everybody dat doesnt know, u can still enable tethering on the OS 3.0 running on at&t ! yes i said it, u can use your iphone 3G to tether an internet connection from an at&t iphone.

i updated today my at&t iphone and im tethering the connection to my mac to write this post.......i know how to do it on a mac but not too sure if that method works on a PC.
