It's not possible to jailbreak iPhone 3GS running iPhone OS 3.1.3. However, if you have previously jailbroken your iPhone 3GS and used Cydia to store SHSH on file, then you can downgrade to iPhone OS 3.1.2 and jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2.

Hey Andy! Yeah, I'm aware of that. However a lot of the information out there is confusing and I found a lot of it to be BS. I did have a JB 3.1.2. I do have a SHSH ECID on file with Saurik. If I'm that bored later tonight I'll try to figure it out some more. Thanks bud. Take care! :)

If you had previously jailbroken your iPhone and have used Cydia then your shsh ecid file would be available.

I am wondering how I go about getting into cydia to get my SHSH file from them? I have been logged onto cydia before through my iphone 3gs and accidentally upgraded to the latest firmware but do not know how to go about downloading it from cydia. any help?

Still waiting patiently for a 3.1.3 jailbreak :). Don't have my ecid on file because i got my 3gs replaced. I'm sure there will be a jailbreak soon.

Yes and it turns out its either They have 3gs jailbreak and we wait for future important update (not to spoil exploits on lousy 3.1.3)or apple made it that good so we will be checking our patience for the rest of our lives

how did people with jailbreaks get to 3.1.3? and why? i hear so many, "i did it by mistake" dude, its not so easy to click upgrade, have itunes put your phone in DFU mode, reboots it.. and yer still unaware?
I don't think you actually need to go to cydia and get your SHSH ECID. You need to hit restore while holding shift key to select the 3.1.2 iphone firmware file and then make sure your hosts file points to 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com -
The peeps that have recently bought the 3gs are left with no options as they now shipping 3.1.3 standard not fair :(

Jay, that happened to me too, but restarting the network setting helped. Go to Settings - General, scroll all the way down to Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings. Good luck

Works but...remember to select your 3G as a 3GS when running Pwnage Tool. Also, UNCHECK "activate phone" is you're using AT&T. Jailbroken 3.1.3 is a Godsend!! Now to figure out the Cydia hash nonsense.

I updated to 3GS thinking jailbreaking it was not going to be a problem. The idiot before had updated to 3.1.3. I neeeeeeeeeeeeed my jailbreak...... :(
