I just tried to jail break my 3g 3.1.3 for the first time. I got through all the steps correctly (so I thought) but when It was all finished, I couldn't make or receive calls, and I didn't have any extra app on the screen. I just had 6 apps on the homescreen and that was it. Any Ideas?? The instructions said to check the activation box, but i don't think i am supposed to since I want to keep my at&t service. Please advise.

I'm having trouble getting the jailbreak to work.. I've tried twice, but both times I can't make or receive calls. I followed the directions EXACTLY and everything seemed to work, until the back up was done. Anyone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong, or if I can't do it with my current firmware. I am very new to this, so it's very possible i'm missing something. My firmware is 3.1.3 05.12.01

I'm willing to bet money you skipped Step 19. Your "phone" won't work without this.

i just got my iPhone 3gs back from apple with preloaded 3.1.3 firmware will there be a jailbreak or unlock any time soon i miss having a jail-broken phone its so boring with out it

one thing that will be so annoying is when they release a new JB 3.1.3 for 3GS stating "JAILBREAK FOR NON MC MODEL" which means that iphone users with MC model have to wait for....another weeks, mons yr??? OMG, hope it wont happen.

No, I definitely backed it up. I figured out that I checked activate the phone because that's what the instructions say to do, but after reading this I learned that I should UNCHECK it if i'm using at&t. I tried breaking it again, and it said error 1604. Trying one more time...

It's ok, sorted it
Rock extensions caused my memory to fill up
Just disable extensions and clear Rock cache if in same situation -
Sorry if this isnt the place to ask but I was wondering how to get my fiance's phone which is at 3.0.1 right now to 3.1.2 and jailbreak it and saw your post! So I could jailbreak, upgrade to 3.1.3 then downgrade to 3.1.2 with this? any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try to UNCHECK "activate phone", I just did it and works. BTW, my carrier is FIDO in Canada.

Why not wait for the next gen iPhone that comes out in June? Or at least wait till then to get the 3gs and it should be on sale.

Don't upgrade to 3.1.3 then try to down grade. Just upgrade to 3.1.2 and then jailbreak that one.

If its a 3G then just download the 3.1.2 IPSW and restore via itunes (shift & restore for windows)
If its a 3Gs then i'd sit and wait for the next major update and the hopefully following jailbreak -
no body has answered my question, what about unlocking the iPhone 3.1.3.
Can we unlock the iPhone once jailbroken?

Marco, there is no way to unlock 3.1.3 so far, the Dev-team guys are working on it. The jailbreak is a good sign, that means the time is coming, be patient!

patience is a virtue but people stock without JB and unable to use their iphone are losing it. My opinion and suggestion is for dev team and geohot and even to sherif to pls release the JB and so they can unlock and use their Iphone and let it be a learning experience for the people to be very very careful next time on apple updates especially now that os 4 will be here soon.

To all who wondered how I made out with my 3GS. I did have my ECID backed up with Suarik. I wasn't able to downgrade. I then was able to manually find my ECID. There were a lot of steps to take. I decided not to do this and just wait for a 3.1.3 JB. I'm hoping it will be soon. I figured it would have been released already.

yup I got it to work too. Just had to read through the comments and see to do that. Also if you try it and need to try again, make sure to redownload the 3.1.3 firmware. I kept trying to use the original download on my reattempts, and it wouldn't work, but when I redownloaded it, everything worked flawlessly! I love it

I got my 3G unlocked, but the phone isn't working. I've got no bars. Everything else seems fine. Any ideas?

I bought my 3GS yest at Best Buy and it had 3.1.2 so I jailbroke it, unlocked it and set up Internet tethering. I didn't want to wait for iPhone 4g.

so is it possible to upgrade to 3.1.3 with a previously jailbroken 3.1.2 3GS and still have it be jailbroken? I'm having a hard time figuring it out.
