I am giving up. I had a great iPhone 3Gs jb and unlocked. It started failing. Apple replaced it with one with 4.0 firmware. Same issues. Lousy volume. Battery drain! I am selling on eBay. Bought an android and a Pre Plus.
Tired of Apple's ways. -
Edit your host file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts). Depending on your OS, you may have to open Notepad as "Administrator" (right click on notepad and choose run as administrator). Add this entry to the file and save it:
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
If iTunes was open when you made the host file change, you may have to close it back down and reopen it.
Once you downgrade, you'll probably be in a recovery loop - use tiny umbrella - on the right hand side, there is a "Kick device out of recovery" button.

If you are going to be using a altered version of the iPhone operating system, you must use an older version of iTunes and the iPhone OS to make sure that you are still within the agreement licensing terms, so before you jailbreak you may wan to think twice!

Hello, i need to know if my phone is goin to work again. I have a iphone 3Gs 3.1.2 jailbroken and unlock with blackrain, and now i conected to itunes and upgrade it to the latest firmware (4.0.1) and now it doesn´t work . I havent saved anything not (SHSH blobs)
Sorry my bad english, but can someone explain to me what posibility i got... will i be able to fix it with his new jailbrake/unlock?

spiritjb.org is an imposter site. Spirit Jailbreak for iOS4 will be out before this month end. Also, a jailbreak tool bundled with unlock tool is in progress...that is the latest update.

it means that if you updated, use SHSH blobs to restore back to 4.0 because that is what the jailbreak is intended for

it tells you in the text above - yes it will but if u are using an old bootrom you could have already jailbroken

ur right - if apple made themes like winterboard, they would prevent many jailbreaks. (Not me cause i doin it for games though :p)

you can jailbreak without shsh blobs, if you DO NOT UPDATE TO 4.1.
And the redsnow jailbreak is for mb models, not mc. All new models are mc now.

you will yes. If i was you i would save the 4.0.1 with shsh blobs now (tiny umbrella does it)
I dont know much about shsh blobs but somehow you can restore it

i dont get if you save your shsh blob with cydia now - can you restore on cydia or can you do it on the computer
what i am trying to say is:
if you have saved your shsh blob, but not jailbroken and therefore do not have cydia, can you still restore?if yes, how?
