If you need ultrasnow to unlock your iPhone... then clicking update from itunes will upgrade your baseband.. and you can't unlock it with ultrasnow.

If you get the white screen with the unexpected error message, Try plugging your iPhone into a hub rather then directly to the computer. I spent over an hour researching a fix for this and the above worked for me.

I don't need the unlock and already have 4.10.01 baseband on iOS 4.3.1. Would it matter if I used restore or just plain upgraded normally? I'm just trying to see if one method has any benefits over the other. Or maybe just skip this upgrade completely. Thanks.

I don't really want to restore if i can avoid it. Can i not just option-click the update button and then run redsnow thereafter to jailbreak without the need for a time-consuming restore?

according to step 2 is it necessary to download the files? if my iPhone version is 4.3.2?? that is downloaded from iTunes??is it still necessary?

@ john, been jb'ing my iphone since 3G.. today, i tried to do "shift+update" instead of restore (provided you downloaded the ipsw).. just for the heck of it.. it worked, and I didn't have to reinstall my cydia apps, sync contacts, etc.. as for cydia, all the sources are there, intact.. just install **** manually, and everything (cracked apps, if you have 'em) should work..

After updating to 4.3.1 then jailbreaking with redsn0w, my video camera shutter won't open. I hoped 4.3.2 jailbreak would fix this problem but it did not. If I use sb settings to put in safe mode the camera works until I respring? Anyone else have the problem or any ideas how to fix?

How long should the 'uploading ramdisk' take? Mine has been going now for about 10 mins without any movement on the status bar.. Has it crashed?

Im having the same problem. It gets to loading ram disk then a error pops up and says redsn0w has a problem and is shutting down. Im running windows vista. This sucks!!!!!!!!!

I am having the same issues, Cydia isn't letting me open my account. My phone also didn't restore properly, it put everything back on the phone but not in folders...pissing me off now
