How to Unlock AT&T iPhone Without Losing Jailbreak
As you probably know, AT&T started unlocking off-contract iPhones from April 8th.
The process to get your off-contract iPhone is very simple as we've explained earlier. However, if you follow the instructions sent by AT&T then you could end up losing your jailbreak, which is one downside.

You should note that this does not work for the 4s Since you cannot use Redsnow.

When I unlocked my jailbroken 4 after being told it was unlocked by Vodafone, I just put another carriers sim in, launched Itunes and it came back and said it's unlocked. Sorted!

Of course, but not using this method. You should use an alternative "underground" method that is suitable to your iOS platform.

Nice! This worked for me on my 3GS. Really saved my ass on this one, I was actually contemplating restoring to stock firmware last night to get the unlock, glad I saw this article!

Instead of going through this lenghty method, what i did was install SAM from Cydia, deactived my phone using SAM and reactivated using Itunes. Took me about 15 seconds to unlock and get the congratulations your iphone is now unlocked message.

WOOOW it works.......I just Deactivate my iPhone 4 using redsn0w and i connected my iPhone to iTunes and it said "Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked.” I called AT&T and they send wait for a email on 4-21-12 but I GUESS YOU DONT HAVE TO WAIT JUST DEACTIVATE YOUR IPHONE AND IT SHOULD WORK..

Yes ! That's true, I terminate my contract in 2011 becasue I moved out from US to my home country. Its been locked for all the time, day before I was reading some forums about AT&T unlocking started from Apr 8th 2012. I called the AT&T customer service and asked the same, after the verification they told me by Apr 24th it will be unlocked but here is the good part. Its unlocked in less than 48hrs, I restored the phone and got the message "Your phone is unlocked now" and I am using my Vodafone sim like a charm. Everything works perfect..

I guess this Redsnow process deactivation doesn't work in India. I tried my AirTel SIM & the stock AT&T SIM(doesn't work) today coz its been nearly a week since I've been asked by AT&T CR to wait for email, which I didn't receive till today. Any help available for issues lyk dis?

What if I purchased iphone4 (without a contract) the day it came out. But I live overseas now and this iPhone basically just sits in my drawer since I can't use any other sim with it. AND I can't call AT&T since I have no service here? Is there any other solution to get my iPhone unlocked?
