Step-by-Step Guide to Jailbreak iPhone 3G running Firmware 2.2.1 using QuickPwn 2.2.5 (Mac)
The Dev Team had warned iPhone 3G users against updating to firmware 2.2.1 as it also included a baseband update which breaks the "injection hole" that they had used in their application yellowsn0w to modify the firmware which had helped to successfully unlock iPhone 3G. So if you want to...

I don't see what this has to do with QuickPwn but I don't see why you couldn't... As long as you aren't stupid.
-
Does this work with the new (unibody) Macbook Pros??
-
I would think so... It's not like theres a different OS on it or anything...
-
Hey Zac,
As we have mentioned in the guide:
If you have upgraded to Mac OS X 10.5.6 (or using the new
MacBooks<)" rel="nofollow">http://www.iphonehacks.com/2008/11/pwnagetoolpwned.html>)
and facing a problem then it is because the latest update prevents your Mac
from recognizing iPhone in DFU
mode<which" rel="nofollow">http://www.iphonehacks.com/2008/12/dev-team-update.html>which is
important to jailbreak iPhone 3G, use a USB hub in-between the DFU
device and the Mac and insert/reinsert the iPhone's USB cable as a
workaround. -
I got a problem with my iphone 3g.... recently after respringing or rebooting my iphone my applications relocate on different pages. Any way to solve this?
-
quickpwn works fine with iphone connected to usb hub, see success message. phone turns off then nothing for twenty mins. when i turn phone back on there has been no changes.
any ideas? -
Hey pete,
I would suggest, you try again.
-
I bought an UNLOCKED iPhone 3G and updated it with with firmware version 2.2.1 (5H11) and modem firmware 02.30.03. If I jailbreak my phone using QuickPwn, will it still remain unlocked?
-
Yes, your factory unlocked iPhone WILL remain unlocked.

I'm having a problem jailbreaking my iphone 3g on 2.2.1. when entering DFU mode. After holding the home and power button and stuff, I never get a message saying if its successfully in DFU mode. Then itunes opens up and says my phone is detected but there is a problem. Then, it just says "quickpwn is about to run on your iphone 3g" and nothing seems to be happening. Any ideas?
-
I''m having the same problem as pete. Ive retried a dozen times.
Should iTunes launch during the JB?
Mine does and I force quit (prefs are also set to NOT launch/sync)Please please please PLLLease help
-
I also have the same problem....
-
yeah i had that same problem you are probably running kate on installer and winterboard or springboard from cydia at the same time i contacted the writer of that software and he commented that they are not supposed to be installed at the same time and create compications
-
Hi, I just went through the steps, got to last one where iphone auto reboots. I keep getting the Apple logo and than nothing, the screen goes black and than the apple logo again...? How long does it take to jailbreak and restart?
-
The quickpwn program has ihaz success...
-
I'm having the same problem right now. It's been nearly 2 hours, still no reboot. Should i start again???
-
Not working for me either and I don't have a USB hub, guess there is no jailbreaking for me
-
pete again,

-

-
hey I had the same problem with the phone never rebooting after jailbreak installed, just stayed on the apple. I tried twice on my macbook pro, and then once in a windows based machine and it never got past the spot l.w brian and myself got stuck at any ideas?
-
its not working, fist time i tried JB, and now am dissapointed
-
i have firm 2.2.1 modem 2.30.0. i jailbreak it successfully but its not getting any signal. NO SERVICE keeps on displaying. i tried using pwnage, it does the same thing
-
Followed instructions with USB hub (it sure did make a difference) and the install software indicated (via screen dialog) it was downloading to my IPHONE but the IPHONE display was all white and stayed that way even after I received the "success" dialog. I did notice that when the download process began the MAC OS (or something else) sensed it and spawned the ITUNES App which might be locking up the IPHONE ( protection, maybe!). At any rate, I hope one of the jailbreak developers can address our issues.
-
I successfully JB my iphone, but now I can't change the lock screen. Any thoughts?
-
Followed instructions and got "success" message. Unfortunately it was a bit premature. The phone stalled on the white screen so I rebooted it. It came back up san Cydia or Installer :(
-
stuck on the apple screen for me as well. Anyone??????
-
i have modem 02.30.03 2.2.1 3g - can i jailbreak my phone?
-
I went through the process and everything seemed to work perfectly, it rebooted itself, etc however after the process there was no cydia or other change to the iphone...
can someone please let me know what im doing wrong, I have lepord 10.5.6 however I have even tried to do it with a usb hub and also by using the previous usb drivers..
Thanks in advance, i really can't wait to get my phone jailbroken -
WORKED PERFECTLY! i have an iPhone 3g firmware 2.2.1 with Rogers Wireless in Canada and just jailbroke it without any problems at all. I was a bit hesitant, only because some people said they lost service after the jailbreak... but just follow the steps (which are fool-proof really) and it will all be fine. Thanks to all the developers of the tutorials and stuff, nice work!
