The dependable iPhone Dev team have released updated version of their PwnageTool to jailbreak iPhone OS 3.0. However, they are reporting that due some bugs and unexpected changes, they plan to release their tools in phases and have started off by releasing PwnageTool for Mac OS X to jailbreak iPhone...

Man, I'm so excited I could ruin my iPhone with the drool I'm generating. I keep throwing my iPhone up in the air as high as I can and then catching it, hoping that when it comes down, I'll check and see the Windows PWN tool posted. It's getting harder and harder to catch and I hope it doesn't smash to the ground.
Good work Dev-Team (if that is your real name) and take it to the bank that I'll stop flinging my iphone around when I can jailbreak this bad boy. It's just worthless without the jailbreak.

You don't need to unlock your iPhone, if all you want to do it jailbreak your iPhone to install jailbreak apps.
Unlocking is required only if you want to use SIM from any carrier. -

no signal for me after restore using custom ipsw
tryed it 3 times now

Confirmed, same issue here on Rogers in Canada: "No Service" after restoring custom .ipsw.

Are you guys on AT&T? If not, you need to wait for ultrasn0w before your phones will work...

If you want to unlock your iPhone then you need to wait for Ultrasn0w as Greg has pointed out.

NO Need for a Mac!
Just get a custom 3.0 Firmware and itunes does every thing for YOU!INSTALL INFO:
Plug into computer (no Need for DFU)
Open itunes
Click on Restore while holding Down "Shift" Key
Browes to the Custom 3.0
And watch Your iphone go From 2.2.1 To 3.0! :)I am running 3.0 on 2G iphone and it jailbroken,unlocked for use with T-Mobile.

The above information is designed to inform those who are already familiar with jailbreaking/unlocking the iPhone(s).

The "stuff" on your iPhone should not be lost, if you choose to backup your iPhone. But Cydia, along with Winterboard/**** etc. will be deleted once you restore your phone. Take screen shots of your sources and packages to help you remember what you downloaded.
As far as your contacts and music, no, it will not be deleted.

Dude chill out im just messing around i know what the dev does is not required and i do thank them for their time and effort. I forgot to delete categories from my iphone so now half my apps are not showing up but its in their. Of all comments you picked mine? Besides most of the world uses Windows so it doesnt make sense to me that they would release it to the people that are not the majority. Yes i know they have problems with quickpwn atm so chill out.

Pwnage tools is for Mac OS and Quickpwn is for Windows OS. Correct me if i am wrong.

Man, I feel stupid now. Just Upgraded to 3.0 on a iPhone 3G hoping to use it as a "iPod touch" (no cell service) at least untill Ultrasn0w is released. Turns out my iPhone is now a brick. Can't even get the home screen only a splash screen telling me to connect to iTunes or perform an emergency call (and iTunes tells me my SIM card can't be used to activate the phone.)
Should have been patient... Any suggestions friends?

Ok, so i cant wait till QuickPwn for Windows comes out (not complaining as i love the Dev team and understand that they have lots of work to do) so what i have decided to do is install Mac OS X on my PC and use that lol, yes im despirate/determined. What ever lol.Hopefully it works, but most likely by the time it finishes downloading QuickPwn will be out or my friend with his MacBook Pro will be back from vacation lol. Oh well I never quit.

just get AT&T sim from your friends and connect to itunes to activate ,u will be able to use the iphone as ipod touch for now.

Ok so quick question. I don't need my device unlocked as I'm on AT&T but I want to be able to unlock it in the very near future so I can sell it when I get my 3G S. If I read it correctly I should be able to upgrade to 3.0, jailbreak it and then once Ultrasn0w comes out unlock it without any problems right?
