Have to hold the option button and click the Restore button, from there select the custom restore file you created, should be on your desktop.

3G on 3.0. PERFECT! Thank you! You can roughly follow the step-by-step guide for the previous version, just be aware that if you use the Simple Mode, you won't have to select packages, Pwnage will just build your custom .ipsw. The default name for that file will start with iPhone1.2_3.0. Don't let that throw you into thinking it's only for Gen 1 or 2 iPhones.

Hi, I had my iPhone 3G jailbroken when firmware was version 2x. How do I upgrade my iPhone to firmware 3.0 keeping my jailbreak? Do I have to restore my phone first and lose my jailbreak, upgrade to 3.0 in iTunes and then finally jailbreak the phone again?
Can the DevTeam help? Thank you very much in advance.

Oh yah, I forgot to mention, my iPhone does not need to be unlocked; I can use any sim card with it.

OK Ive been contribing here for a very long time, and now i need some help. I installed this, i have att, and it works, mostly. Its activated but i only get 1 bar no "AT&T" no E or 3G or the little GPRS dot. and nothing works cell phone wise. i have iphone 3g. PLEASE HELP MEEEEE!

I have an iphone 1st Gen. If im currently running 2.2.1, do I first need to upgrade to the regular 3.0 from itunes or can I upgrade from 2.2.1 to the hacked 3.0 firmware?

Exactly as the directions say. Honestly, I think experience is the best thing - this is my third or fourth time jailbreaking. I plugged in my phone, made the custom firmware, loaded it into DFU mode according to the directions given in the program, and then restored with the custom firmware using option-click restore (hold the option button (or shift if you're on a PC) and then click restore - should bring up finder and then just load the custom firmware).
First time I tried it I got error 9 and I switched USB ports. Second time it went through without a hitch. Nothing special about: custom firmware, restore. Just gotta try it till it works.

ok im jailbreaked at 2.2.1 should i backup all my contacts and apps via itunes on the computer in order to keep everything during this process?
im afraid of losing all my settings and data.

Na, iPhone 2g has iPhone1,1_3.0 and iPhone 3g has iPhone1,2_3.0

The message you are on about is "Contacting Activation Center."
After the install with the old baseband .28 on 3g, the phone wouldn't activate but after updating the baseband it activated straight away but then my carrier is O2 Uk anyway.

You have to upgrade to 3.0 the regular way through itunes first then after the upgrade is done run the pwnage tool 3.0 with the custom ipsw. Pwnage tool 3.0 wont work if your running 2.2.1 on your iphone.

I have a 2G iphone running 3.0 and I used Pwnage Tool 3.0 yesterday and it worked perfectly the first time. I am now unlocked and jailbroken running 3.0. Thanks Dev Team!

No problems with both 3g iphones.
1st phone:
1. Not jailbroken
2. Was Running 3.0 then used PwnageTool 3.0 to create custom firmware
4. Restored custom firmware via iTunes
5. Restored data from iTunes backup
6. Installed **** for 3.0 from ****
7. Done!2nd phone:
1. Jailbroken running 2.2.1
2. Used iTunes to backup then update to 3.0
3. Then ran PwnageTool 3.0 to create custom firmware
4. Restored custom firmware via iTunes
5. Restored data from iTunes backup
6. Installed **** for 3.0 from ****
7. Done!Note: Both phones run WAY better than 2.2.1. Not sure if @pple changed something but we are quite happy with 3.0. Don't wait people! :) Update!!!
