It's was ment for the new firmware not the new iPhone.
But the 3GS uses the same baseband that's being exploited in ultrasn0w.
Better buy it now before apple "fixes" it!!

Can anyone tell me the step by step procedures to upgrade a 3g that is running 2.2 and is jailbroken and unlocked. Do I use iTunes to Update or do I use Restore? I don't want to screw it up. I know to use redsn0w, then run Cydia and ultimately ultrasn0w. Thanks!

Restore to 3.0 from itunes, download redsnow and run, add ultrasnow source to cydia, follow instructions. http://blog.iphone-dev.org/

Please try again, also check your SIM card. Today I had the same 'no service' issue when I put my old pay&go SIM card in my iPhone 3G after unlocking it with ultrasn0w. I became very nervious and thaught that I lost unlocking chance maybe forever, but then I swapped my SIM card with somebody else in the house to check it out. Appeared to be that my SIM card did not work on my friend's Nokia phone while his SIM card worked on my iPhone (it is from Vodaphone UK). So it must be that my SIM card has been expired and became non active after leaving it for so many months without using it. I was pretty sure it is ultrasn0w's fault but now I know that it is not. ultrasn0w WORKS, it's just my SIM card is dead.

Because its the question if 3gs can be jailbroken, if it can the same injection vector can be used to inject ultrasn0w into baseband, i hope someone can figure it out before apple close that hole in 3.0.1 fw probably soon!!

I can confirm that I have been getting getting blowjobs from random hot women since I've unlock my iphone 3G with ultrasn0w.

I also confirm that the redsn0w, then ultrasn0w combination has successfully unlocked my 3G, for use with Vodafone UK, on OS 3.0
Although I've read a few issues with the procedure over the net, I followed the step by step guides and it worked perfectly.
I also had the "Could not activate cellular data network:" messages at first, but due to the APN settings being reset to incorrect values. I altered these and it works fine.
Also have MMS setup for Vodafone UK now too. If anyone needs the details... fill in the fields, then reboot and add your phone number in general settings: -

Is there anything to watch out while upgrading an iphone 2G from a very old firmware (1.4)? Should the baseband be preserved or can we let iTunes upgrade everything to the latest?

Manage/Sources/Edit/Add/http://repo666.ultrasn0w.comThat's all there is to it, Cydia will download the required files then just search for UltraSn0w.
