the 3g can't multitask but some sites say they can if you just change a line of code. Which means you have to wait for a jailbreak to use apple's multitasking on the 3g

If you jailbreak the iOS 4 you can multitask just fine. I tried it out ok my 3G and it worked like it does in the video of iOS on the apple website.

Not unless it's jailbroken. Then it will indeed work on the 3G. Tried multitasking on my 3G and it worked just fine.

I have an jailbroken iphone 3gs 3.1.3 and i dont really want it jailbroken anymore. would i be able to upgrade to 4.0 cuz i wanna unjailbreak it

If you update official firmware it will kill your jailbreak.

just back up and restore and the jailbreak will go away.

I have an iphone 3G jailbroken and unlocked on 3.1.2 (via blackrain)
I haven't downloaded itunes 9.2 yet... can I do so safely?
Also, will I be able to jailbreak and unlock on ios4 yet or do I have to wait for a new unlock from the dev team?

the IOS4 update hasn't been officially released for jailbroken devices, you might mess up your precious 3g.
you can use update 3.1.3 for the time being. -

Redsnow for the iOS4 GM has the option to activate multitasking on the 3G. It works pretty well but the RAM often drops below 5MB whereupon things become a tad laggy. It doesn't cause a crash tho so I'd say it's worth it. Of course the final release of iOS4 will like as not need a new Redsnow release. Be careful with what you download from Cydia. Don't restore all your Apps with any backup tool as the majority of the Cydia Apps cause fatal crashes. There are lists around of cydia Apps compatible with iOS4.
