i followed all the steps but when i try to download cydia, i get an error... the request timed out.

In that case use Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC8 to install Cydia as we've mentioned in the troubleshooting steps.

Mine just sticks at the Greenpois0n initialized. also the new one wont open on my macbook pro on snow leopard...

If you don't see Cydia in the Loader app after launching it then you can install Cydia using Redsn0w 0.9.6 RC8 (download link). You should just tick Cydia from the list of options and don't use the Monte option.HOW CAN I TICK CYDIA?Lol thanks

This guide really worked!! To get cydia, download redsnow thingy that they provided at the bottom of the guide, install cydia only. (battery percentage doesnt matter, i did it anyways) and follow the instructions on how to install it using redsnow. basically like if you tried to tether your device before. AWESOMENESS!!

On the 7th time trying the jb. at every time it gets stuck at the initiallized bit... ive tried holding home button for 10 minutes but its stuck... what can i do?

As far as I can see, using greenpois0n RC5_2 I've Jailbroken my new boot Rom 3GS after a clean Restore of 4.2.1BUTI can't see Cydia in the Loader app after trying repeatedly and Redsn0w RC8 continues to encounter an error after attempting to install Cydia only, and keeps telling me to swap USB ports and Reboot.Without Cydia installed the jailbreak is pretty pointless, anyone any ideas?

cydia does not show up in the loader app. When I try to use redsnow it doesn't find the .ipsw for some reason. Any thoughts?

how do you use redsnow after downloading it?

Couldn't get it to work with an iPhone 3GS (jailbroken with spirit previously) on VMWare OS X 10.6.6. Just sat on Jailbreaking....forever will the status bar continuously going. Yes I held the home button the whole time.

Just decided to do the windows tethered JB on 4.2.1 with Redsn0w 0.9.6b6 and its untethered? Not sure if Greenpois0n had anything to do with this. Old bootrom 3gs that was jailbreaken on Jailbreak me. Did a clean install of 4.2.1 tried greenpois0n on Max OS X 10.6.6 VMware and it didn't work so I did the windows tethered and its untethered.

Great Work Dev Team, follow the instruction, got it working on my factory unlock iPhone 3GS (jailbroken with limerain previously). It would be perfect if the "Release Home button" really do came out. Is iPhone reboot the sign of release "Home" button?? Tried twice and got Cydia shown in loader.app. Twice to get it started downloading Cydia. Kept touching the screen to avoid got into sleep mode and ensure Cydia download completed. iPhone auto-reboot after Cydia download and install completed (hidden process).Normal process after Cydia successfully installed.Thanks again Dev Team.
