hi i tried tried to jail break my iphone 3g
but it gets stuck at step 14
should i shut down the phone my self or should i wait for it to prompt me too -

I have att with no need to unlock. (i am on a PC but have access to a mac) I upgraded to 3.1 and tried to use redsnow 0.7.2 to jailbreak. picked the iPhone1,2_3.1_7C144_Restore.ipsw that i downloaded from this site and it said it was unable to recognize the specified IPSW. Do i need redsn0w .8 to jailbreak or do i need to make a custom IPSW to jailbreak my phone? any information would be greatly appreciated.

So let me get this straight, I can jailbreak and update my iphone 3g to 3.1 on a mac even though I have a pc?? Would it affect the iphone 3g itself or it will be working fine?...
Please explain a little better because after reading all the problems and bugs on some people after upgrading to 3.1 I'm a little hesitant... please help...

I have used this guide to jailbreak my iphone 3G ( i was using the SIM hardware hack before) and after using the custom ipsw which pwnage tool created, i ended up with version 3.1(7C144) and baseband 02.30.03. Cydia was not in the apps but i got it when i restored my iphone backup (which i took before using this guide). I installed ultrasnow to unlock it but now the phone is bugging out and i dont get a signal with T-Mobile USA. Any ideas? Like for example how to upgrade baseband from 02.30.03 to 04.28.06?Peace!

I have windows. I accidentally upgraded my to 3.1. I use AT&T as my carrier. I already enabled MMS on it.
Can I jailbreak it still? I mean if I downgrade to 3.0.1? Can I still downgrade it? what about MMS then?

Since I own a PC, I will have to borrow someone's mac to do the process. But how do I do the custom restore after this process? and will I lose all my application, music and contacts from my phone after the restore on my pc? or will it just be the same just with the additional jailbroken app called cydia?

How do you bring up the music box when you're using the maps application because I did it once, just couldnt do it after that...But I mean like it brings up a small box like windows media player so you can switch between songs without having to exit the application. And is there an app that lets you run several apps at the same time like a blackberry?

I got it in april on a contract here in Oz, so it was unlocked operating on 3.0 I had it jailbroken as well, but when I needed to restore it went to 3.1 automatically and now I want to jailbreak it but pwnage for windows is not ready yet.

I just need to know if i update my baseband in itunes i dont need to unlock the iphone ever. after i update to 3.1 can i still use the tool just to jail break it.

Quick question. I did everything step by step including the sn0w, it all went almost good however when I tried to unlock my phone to work on a different network using Cydia and the instructions repo into cydia
it seemed like it was beginning to download it and then it would just stay on the black screen for ever and eventually I just had to hard reset the iPhone. After that it would appear on the list, but when I insert a SIM from a different network it doesn't connect, No Signal. Any thoughts?

um, no you don't, you can just restore with the custom firmware from your windows itunes.

Hi, i just ran through the procedure and everything seemed to work fine (after using ultrasn0w to get AT&T back). my settings and pictures and all that stuff came through intact, but all my text messages are gone. anyone have any thoughts on getting them back or are they just gone? Thanks!

All, for those of you new to jailbreaking, or wish to jail break your iPhone 3G running 3.1 with firmware 05.11.07, you can use this process to Jailbreak without worry. I have used this step by step guide to do just that. It ran flawlessly and you should have no anxiety about doing it. At first I was worried because the instructions say you need 3.01 or earlier but you need not worry if you have already upgraded to 3.1.

There is a way out of this dilemma. I found a workaround in modmyi.com. User "chrischarles2002" describes "My successfull downgrade from 3.1 to 3.0 on 3G".
