No not strictly correct - my 3GS is MC151B, yet it's always been an un-tethered jailbreak for me :) Mines def old bootrom, cos it's week 36 as well.

you mean baseband... you're in luck if you are jailbroken... just install ultrasn0w from cydia

The unlock is relased. If you've read the entire post you would know that... Just not the jailbreak for 4 on the new bootrom.

I have an iPhone 3gs 3.1.3 (5.12.01 baseband and newer 6.4 bootrom) should I just go to AT&T, sign up for a plan to get iphone activated, then jailbreak/unlock, and cancel plan the next day? Has anyone done this? I read somewhere they even refund the activation fee if you cancel within 3 days.

continuously getting error 1604 while trying to install the custom firmware. any help please. tried it out on Win/mac still the same error message, anyone else getting this ?

I have a 3GS that was jailbreak with spirit (3.1.3) and then I updated to iOS 4 and now I don't have 3G service in my IPhone. What I need to do ?? I need to go back in the firmware or what?

I have taken the plunge and managed to answer it myself.
all works hunky dory.
so if you update your 3G thru itunes you can jail break it (but i doubt the unlock works due the the baseband is also updated) -

If your itouch is compatible with redsnow i would use that. only ipod touch 2g is compatible with pwnagetool. And by reading above post looks like the ipodtouch 2g has to be already jailbroken but not with spirit to work.

sorry pal, but worked perfectly fine? I can only guess the unlock side of things wont work due to the baseband is also updated

how did you try to restore using itunes?
make sure you have the latest version, when you plug in the phone it sais found iphone in dfu mode, hold the option key as you click the restore button and select the pwnage created ipsw file. then this should work fine. -
unlock works fine actually on the new baseband, with ultrasn0w. give that a try.. I have it unlocked. :)

I finally got everything to work. It was my mistake. I had to downgrade my ios back to 3.1.2 then just do a restore with the custom 4.0 ipsw. it is working now and already did the ultrasn0w unlock. Thanks Dev Team

i have a 3GS old bootrom in 3.1.3 5.12.01 not jailbroken. Can I downgrade to 3.1.2 and jailbreak with blackra1n so that pwnagetool 4.0 will work?

Wow, I just got a warranty replacement for my 3GS that was from day one when it came out. They pulled it new from the box and I got one with the old bootrom. They must have had some old stock sitting around they used to fulfill because they had to order in from Apple.

i have a jailbroken 3g. i used spirit to jailbreak it. if i upgrade to ios 4.0 can i still jailbreak my phone again? i dont need it unlocked although i unlocked it with ultrasn0w.

oh BTW I have a unlocked/unjailbroken iPhone new bootrom running 3.1.3 so I cannot use Spirit or UltraSnow :(
