how do i active it and unlock it....

i had same prob too error ' 1600 '.. first make sure tat u've installed itunes 9.2.. then create custom FW with sn0wbreeze 1.6.1 click simple mode.. n then click ' yes' .. done ur Custom FW is created.. Now Turn Off iphone.. connect iphone 3gs n hold down home n power buttons until apple logo appears.. then release power button keep hold home button until itunes open.. if u iphone 3gs appears ' iTunes Logo ' then it means ur Done.. Just Hold Shift n click on ' Restore ' browse ur Custom FW n open it.. DONE ..! iF u StiLL GeTTiN ErrOr ' 1600 ' Then Try To ChaNge UsB PorTz LiKe i DiD.. NoW iT WorKz..!!

i have 3gs 32gb iphone with old boot rom (checked with usbwiew), but my model is MC142CR. it was previously jb with redsnow to 3.0.1. and it worked just fine. but as stupid as i am, i manged to update it to 4.0. via itunes. is it possible tojailbreak my phone to 4.0.
appreciate any help. sorry about my english -

same thing on mine too.. did all then connect to itunes restorte mode then waited for a long time in preparing to restore...nothing happen at all

so bro , can i safely jailbreak my old bootroom 3gs 3.1.2 which was jailbroken with blackra1n?.......what if that itunes error of 1600 or 1604 comes up? will be restored onto d stock 4.0 .... i have made a snowbreeze custom ipsw already.....

I have the Snowbreeze 1.6.1 but where do I get the custom firmware? Is there a link? I don't see where is the option to create the firmware in the software. Sorry I'm new to this. Please help thanks.

In snowbreeze 1.6.1 I do not see the "yes" button to create the custom firmware. :( It just goes straight to next menu and asks me to browse for the firmware. Please help. thanks.

after creating your ipsw file with snowbreeze, put your phone in recovery mode (turn it off, unplug the USB cable, hold the home button, replug the USB cable, it should turn on by itself, keep holding the home button until you see the recovery screen on the phone (cable+itunes logo). then just proceed restoring your new firmware with itunes 9.2 by shift+click on restore. wait a long time and enjoy.

Yeah, considering how long the 3gs with new bootroms have been out, it does seem like Apple has actually stymied the hackers out there. It usually takes them on the order of days or weeks to get around protections, not months and months. Except for maybe the PSP homebrew stuff, this is the first time that I think I've ever seen hackers stopped so decisively.

If I am on 3gs 3.1.3 with spirit jailbreak, can I restore to unjailbroken firmware and then jailbreak to 4.0 with sn0wbreeze?
