Awesome it works jailbroken with 4.0.2 and unlocked wit ultrasnow. Almost too easy. I dont find it any slower or buggier.

yes unlock will work as the baseband hasnt changed.
Its like like with 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 its just a software update to fix the PDF exploit. -
hi i hav iphone 3g its jailbroken and is runnin 3.0.1 i want to upgrade my Fw.
what Fw should i upgrade to?
do i have to restore to an orig Fw first?
i tried upgrading to 4.0 but got error 3194 during apple verification.
whats the best way to go ? -
I did exactly by the steps and my iPhone stuck with "plug in Itunes" Jailbreak failed and my phone locked now :(((

Thanks for the instructions. Followed them to the letter, but also have my 3GS sitting at the "waiting for reboot". I've left it now for 15 mins and also followed your instructions once already to manually restart it witht the home and power button.
Is there anything else i can try?

There is currently no method to jailbreak iPhone 3GS else I would have given it.
One option would be to downgrade to iOS 4.0.1 and jailbreak using Jailbreakme. -

hi, ive got a 3g with the 4.0.2 update and tried the jailbreak but when i try restore and open up the firmware folders its blank :S could any1 help?

change the extension of firmware its.zip change to ipsw

With regard to aptrackr, I think you need to use your pc to install the apps. Just download it on your pc and install it via itunes, then do sync and it should transfer on you device. Make sure you install the **** 4.0 first! Good Luck

thanks you! it works fine for me. but i think it requires more explanation and instruction about restoring process in step 6 with iTunes. if iphone is not restored to 4.02 with "iPhone1,2_4.0.2_8A400_Restore.ipsw" file, the other restoration file jailbroken is not working with redsn0w. be careful at this point, coz i was stuck. but now, it's working for me. you must restore with "400_restore" and then rerestore using with "iPhone1,2_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw"
