Sn0wbreeze can be used only to jailbreak your iPhone, it does not unlock it.
If your iPhone is on iOS 4.0.2 or older then Sn0wbreeze will preserve its baseband to unlock it using Ultrasn0w. Ultrasn0w cannot unlock baseband 05.14.02 that is shipped with iOS 4.1. But Dev team is planning to release an updated version of Ultrasn0w to unlock it after iOS 4.2 is released. You can get all the details here: -

it is kind of buggy you cant do a dfu mode walkthrough only after you build a custom ipsw, but I already made one so I had to make it again because I think it does something else when it puts to dfu mode on sn0wbreeze because normal dfu have 1600 error on 3gs

I was planning to use ultrsn0w when it comes out as i have a mac ? The reason i asked is that i read somewhere that if you have jail-broken using limera1n or greenp0isn you were ok and didnt have to use pwnage 4.1.2 to preserve your baseband. Im just a little concerned incase i have to re-jailbreak for some reason and loose my baseband. thanks for your reply

I had same problems but after installing cydia so i downloaded ifile from cydia apps and deleated some files under lists. Now no problems.

If you dont no how to use ifile you can go to youtube and type in cydia crash fix and you can get a tutorial how to use ifileif this is any help to you

I just bought a iPhone 4 on 4.1 firmware 02.10.04. It has never been jailbroken before. Will I be able to jailbreak/unlock once this is released??? Or do I have to jailbreak my phone first? Someone please help!!!!

The Sn0wbreeze create a custom .ipsw file and when tries to restor it. It tells you "NOT a Valid IPSW" !!!
I guess we have to wait for 4.2 and use other solutions to unlock and jailbreak the iPhone 3G.
