really need some help..iphone 3g 4.2.1fresh restoremodem firmware 05.15.04redsnow 0.9.6b6ive been #$^$%&ing with this thing for a week! It wont go any further than DFU mode in redsnow. Its worth mentioning i'm on windows vista 64. Also, im using an old sim card that has been activated with itunes in order to make this iphone into an ipod touch so i can use the wifi without the data plan.Am i missing a step? Do i need to hacktivate it, or unlock it first? this will be my first jailbreak and i would REALLY like to donate to the team here..but i cant seem to get this thing right! the genius at the apple store told me that they couldnt help me with turning it into an ipod touch, im out of warranty. Screw em, im going to jailbreak it. i swear i will donate if someone can get me to the point where i can use my iphone 3g (as an ipod touch) to get on wifi at home and work.

i just tried to put my phone in dfu mode but the start jailbreak button doesn't appear, can somebody please help me because my phone isn't starting up anymore

I JB'd iPhone 4 after upping to 4.2.1. Everything was looking good til I tried to make a phone call. I get ringing and then the phone locks up hard! I have to hard boot it (home+power). It comes up in SafeMode and then I restart again to get back to normal. Any thoughts? Anyone else?

i just restored it, and did it all over again and it worked. probably should have just gone the red snow route.

Why the hell other than your a cheep ass would you want to use a iphone on any other GSM carrier than AT&T? I would throw my phone out the window into oncoming traffic on a freeway if I had to go back to using edge! One question though, dose this still mean if the battery dies,, you have to re-jailbreak the phone?

according to readme file it says noting about iphone 3g, Ive tried SEVERAL TIMES but i cannot get it to go into DFU mode can someone please help!!!!??????

Please help I have a 3GS and it worked fine but my wife's 3G is a different storey, I can not get it into DFU mode! I have been trying ALL day today!! I'm about to throw her phone out the window! Both phones are running on 4.2.1 which I just updated to today and I am using Windows Vista, can someone please tell me how to get this 3G into DFU mode??? Please!! Thanks.

I'm having a similar problem with my iPhone 3G. I can get the phone into DFU mode (iTunes sees that it's in DFU) but GreenPoison won't detect DFU mode. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm using a Sony laptop with Windows Vista 64Bit to do the jailbreak and I'm using the newest version of iTunes (10.1.2).

Has anyone actually READ the RC5 Readme? Because iPhone 3G is NOT listed in there ... yet it is here in this article title(??). So has ANYONE gotten GP-Win to work on 3G? I have tried multiple Windows systems with no USB hubs yet GP can't see DFU mode. And yet I can see the driver in Device Mgr. 64-bit, 32-bit, Win XPsp3 mode ... yep, have wasted a few hours now. Alway the "Try Again" button.Never tried GP before. But if it bottoms at 3GS when 4.2.1 is the last 3G release EVER, I'll be curious what the real limitation was.
