You updated baseband. It has nothing to do with limera1n. You should have updated to 4.1 without updating baseband. There are tools for that. People like you make me mad. How dare you to blame anybody for your stupidity !!! -
No that's not it. Geo released because his worked on all devices, Chronic's worked only on A4 processors devices. Geo's point was that the exploit originally planned for GreenPoision should be saved for later since it doesn't work with every device. All of Apples iOS devices going forward will have an A4 proc, so save it.
Stop ragging on Geohot when your problem is all between chair and keyboard.

Just jailbroke my 3GS newbootrom no problems worked first try....this is my first jailbreak so I am still trying to figure everything out can sumone tell me why I am having trouble getting things to load in cydia....sumtimes they load then sumtimes they don't .....thanks geohot....fixin to donate

I had this same problem! perhaps the problem is my phone is registered to a mac, but I was using my Win 7 64bit to JB the phone. please help!!! (I have Iphone 4 4.1)

Worked well... It took a couple of tries but it was my fault, I didn't have itunes on so I didn't get the limera1n logo. Finally read all the comments and got it working.

limera1n was able to install on my 3gs. I now got Cydia on my iPhone (YAY!). Will post some more when I get done playing around with available apps on Cydia. THANX Geohot!!!

Lost Carrier: after using tiny umbrella to save baseband then using limera1n for JB my previously jailbroken iphone 4 which was on ios 4.02 all appeared fine, jb seemed to work even restored all apps using pkgbackup. I then noticed I had no carrier and couldn't get it back. Out of desperation talked to ATT they suggested bad sim which didn't seem right to me, what's odds of sim going bad during a JB? So i went and got new sim from ATT store and same thing no carrier. Wifi works no problem, anyone have ideas or experienced the carrier loss?

Since you used Tiny Umbrella, the baseband is probably preserved. So try to install Ultrasn0w from Cydia to unlock your iPhone:

was trying out the overall process.. upon completion, after uninstalling limera1n - several probs on my part;
i) realised the cydia icon is gone.. tried restarting, ii) then the email icon image goes blank albeit still usable,
iii) and the app store icon is completely gone..please advise..
~ to redo the whole jailbreak process again? OR... -
After limera1n jailbreak is done to my iPhone 4 iOS 4.1, will I be able to ever restore my iPhone or update to newer operating systems?

pls help. I applied the JB on my 3GS missing the step to upgrade to OS 4.1 first. Now my phone after reboot hangs at the apple logo. Is that anything i can do to save the phone?

I dont know if this happend to anyone else, but APTBACKUP caused all of my Itunes apps to dissapear and caused itunes to see everything as "other" had to do a restore. then while rejailbreaking itunes popped up, i had used my Right hand to hold the buttons and couldnt move itnues out of the way so i didnt know when to let go of power, held it too long and now it wont rejailbreak it just freezes on let go of power each time i run it.

I bought my 3GS in October of 2009 through Rogers, which is my carrier. I do not need to unlock my device.
my versions are iOS 3.1.2(7D11) with Rogers 5.0, Modem firmware is 05.11.07.
To upgrade to iOS 4.1 and jailbreak my device, can I simply update through iTunes and then download the above limera1n, and jailbreak my device or would I need to make a new ispw and so on?

I keep trying to jb my iphone 4 with the 4.1 firmware and i keep having the same problem. I follow the steps exactly but i never see the limera1n logo. When it says its done jailbreakin all i see is the apple logo and my phone is just the way it was before i tried jailbreaking... any idea?

Do I need to upgrade my OS from iTunes to 4.1 and then use Limera1n to jailbreak? Or shall I run Limera1n and it will give me options to upgrade 4.1?Thank you... and please help.

Nothing happens after my iPhone enters DFU mode. Waited for over 10min, does it take that long or is something wrong? Help?
